Thanks for this, helped me to do it for the 1st time to my 2012 PX Ranger. I had a lot of diesel come out while disconnecting the fuel lines. Some people may want to utilise the tap on the bottom of the housing to drain it. Whoever did this last on my Ranger did not connect the electrical connector! Any idea what it does?
@killawattgarage4 жыл бұрын
Draining it first is a good idea. The electrical connector is for a water sensor that sits in the bottom of the filter. It triggers a light on the dash if there is water contamination of your diesel. Thanks for the comment.
@matt08sydney6 жыл бұрын
Hey mate changed that fuel filter clean all the filter housing waited for it to dry put it back together primed it 4 times for 30 second it started then died after running for 15 second couple of attempts but kept dying didn’t want to keep starting it and push air through so rang a mate said it’s probably got some air in it so keep priming it so I did and she started all good 👍I noticed the housing on mine was full of diesel maybe your was to just didn’t look as much on the video! I’m surprised how much diesel the filter housing holds

Piece of piss mate. BT50 has the electrical connector connected to the car which was a bit of a pain, nothing the old pick couldn't get past.
@droy3335 жыл бұрын
BTW, I kept priming, left it on until I couldn't hear any fluid sounds coming from the filter housing. Did this (off and on) until no fluid sounds were coming from the filter housing at all. On the 3rd or 4th time you would only hear the tiniest fluid sounds right away then it would quieten up. Fired up not a problem, idle was perfect.

I have just done the fuel filter on my 3.2 litre PX2 Ranger and found the following. When dismantling the fuel filter although the tightening ring and the upper filter housing are marked the lower housing is not (not on mine anyway). This makes reassembly somewhat difficult as orientation of the components has to be reestablished. I did this by removing the filter & "O" ring and temporary sitting the filter back into place to check it was right. The next thing I found was that the "O" ring on the filter & the "O" ring on the filter housing has to be lubricated or it wont fit together easily. I also found I had to firmly press the two filter halves together so the tightening ring can be tightened properly.

Question. Those 4 tubes on the diesel filter if you put back one on wrong would that caused the van to use excess diesel
@killawattgarage5 жыл бұрын
No, it may cause it not to run. These filters are only low pressure but a leak would cause excessive diesel usage but it would be clear that it is leaking. You may have a leaking injector or other issue.
