You should watch the video produced by the Aussie for the same job. Putting a plastic filter housing in a vice to undo it risks cracking it. It not that hard to unscrew, I've done it several times, put some muscle into it. Also put the new filter in the base, lube the O ring with diesel, and add the top, then screw it up, it's much easier to do it that way, and less risk of twisting the filter element.

Well done. Proably could have shown a bit more on how to prime the filter before startup which you did (only just) by turning the ignition to the on position but it should be done 2-3 times for approx 30 seconds each time. You obviously did a better job of it than whoever did the filter change before you.

Really annoying how you didn’t tell us to prime the pump before starting the engine! I started my car up like you and then it died so I took it all apart thinking I had done something wrong and wasn’t until I checked the comments that I saw you had to prime the pump! eventually I got mine to start. Good video finished badly

No need to take the hole canister out

IMPORTANT NOTE .... I have only done this once but you are not re-assembling correctly. First you have to align the filter's side mounting bracket (which actually sits at a weird angle inside the fixed metal housing). There are then 3 alternate positions (why 3, god knows, there should have only been one) for the plastic tabs (on upper part) and slots (on lower half) to sit .... YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE THE ALIGNMENT CORRECTLY OR THE TUBES WILL NOT MEET THE FILTER PIPES (so filter pipes should point straight back towards the engine bay fire wall). The TWO ARROWS are ONLY to show the final position of the locking ring when it is fully home .... you will actually feel a very slight 'click' as well. If the two halves of the filter assembly are not perfectly home the locking ring will cross thread and the arrows will not align. This can take several attempts to get right BUT the arrows MUST align. ***** Maybe you should have done a dry run first instead of all your guesswork and wasting the viewers time???

ONE OF THE WORST FUEL FILTER ASSEMBLIES EVER DESIGNED ...... ANOTHER STUFF UP BY FORD ...... Henry Ford would be ashamed of how they have stuffed up his KISS (Keep it Simple Stupid) principle and wasted time and money trying to reinvent previous tried and trusted systems .... stupid little expensive & brittle plastic clips that break and are far less efficient than previous simple and permanent metal clips.
