Amazing.... For 2 years, all those smart mechanics with their fancy (and expensive) diagnostic tools have been scratching their heads wondering what the hell is wrong! They need to go back to school and learn mechanics 101. Jimmy is a prime example of a man that can still use his eyes, ears and brain to spot a hole, leak or a pipe that isn't connected. Tie that in with his honesty and you've got yourself a decent fella that knows his onions!

That pipe should've been noticed by any mechanic at any time. Especially when you try and change a part on that pipe.

That on the back of the pump is the fuel metering valve (scv) the rail pressure sensor is the one on the end of the fuel rail. The scv is usually the cause for hunting at idle and maybe a few other issues, although you can get away with just doing the pump and pilot learns which will get it smooth again but it will happen again, same as changing it will ‘cause it’s a software issue. If the vans up to date on software (idle rises when you lift clutch up in gear) it shouldn’t happen. But Biggest thing I’m shocked at IT HAS A POLLEN FILTER!! P.S he should have the learns done at some point as it’ll fine tune it and run that little bit better

I admire your quiet dedication. Thank you for doing the videos they are always helpful. Could you put the year of the vehicles manufacture on the vid heading as well as FWD RWD E4 E5? One reason is the MK7 Transits are not all the same 2006 to 2014. About 26th Sept 2011 the transits were changed. The van you show has an SCV on the HP pump which likely means it predates 26th Sept 2011. My 2012 Mk7 2.2 RWD E5 has a regulator valve and a temperature sensor on the back of the HP pump. A pressure sensor on the back of the rail. The fuel system is Siemens Continental.

To me it now looks like an good idea to collect the part of the box with the part number on, and date it, so that other mechanics can review what have been replaced. Many problems are caused by Amazon junk parts.

I found the inlet pipe was common when owner or want to be mechanic would have forced the fillter top cover over to change the fillter but hey if it was not for them makin the mistake it would be less work .
@daca990710 ай бұрын
Pressure sensor is on the rail not on the pump that is the suction control valve

Surely a bad seal just after airflow meter would give airflow less than expected. Less air going thru meter and filter. Main culprit for high airflow would be the EGR being blanked off or something like a split pipe to/from intercooler etc.- ie. after the turbo. Or even a dodgy boost temp sensor on one of these. Who knows how the lads minds work at Bosch/Siemens when they're writing the software. Changed a few of the fuel regulators in the past. Just wondering if the high airflow would be making the ECU inject more fuel. Then complaining about the increased fuel flow. Definitely had ECUs doing this sort of thing in the past.
@ghulmes88969 ай бұрын
Wouldn't the air flow meter only measure the air flowing through it? Any air taken in after the meter will be an unexpected amount?
@supernoodle484 ай бұрын
Spot on, a higher than expected airflow means insufficient EGR.

A lot of those blanking plates have a hole in them to stop the Ecu throwing a fault. I would guess that the Egr valve is coked up to the hilt not allowing the valve to close properly. Therefore excess exhaust gases are now increasing the airflow back into the engine causing high idle and MAF readings?
@ORileysAutos10 ай бұрын
Yes thats possible. Done this van last week and customer confirmed its fixed the issue so he's not going to touch the egr

Hi jimmy , would you have any idea why a injector would be cable tied to the connector/or the fuel supply pipe . On a Ford transit 2.2 tdci mk8 2015 She’s blowing white smoke from the exhaust . Had dpf cleaned still no good . Happens on random times Could be fine for hours then 5-10 mins bellowing smoke , then back to Normal 🤔🤨 No engine lights , no loss of power etc… Exhaust back box is in a bit of rough nic, that’s about it … Thanks

Just stumbled on this video. I've got a 2007 Transit mk7, 2.2 TDCI with the same P0089 problem code. What i've done is replace the fuel filter, regulator, both on the pump and the one on the rail. I've also replaced the fuel pressure sensor that's on the rail. Now when i had replaced the regulator i noticed that the van had torque again at 1500rpm where before changing the regulator it wouldn't really have any power until 2k rpm. Connectors seem OK, engine runs fine except for missing some power and i tink it should start a little better than it does. Could it be a problem that i used aftermarket parts instead of original Ford parts or is there anything else you think i must've missed? It's the 2.2 with 86bhp. Not a power house indeed, but i strongly feel it should have more power than it currently has.
@Zeeturbo4 ай бұрын
When you replace that valve is there any procedures to follow? It sounded like the van was left running while you swapped it over
@brenbren95516 ай бұрын
Hi. Neighbours 11 mk7 transit is running rough at idle but only when its hot. Drives perfect, no smoke loads of power. When its cold ticks over lovely. Would the same sensor cause that, or should it be rough all the time if the sensor was gone, not just when its hot? No dash lights/faults coming up either. Great vid, thanks

Where about are Jimmy. I’m in Scotland but you better believe I’d drive down to see the transit whisperer 👍🏼 I have the same van no fault codes no nothing but it has a terrible flat spot. 125bhp limited mk7 euro 5 and it drive like it had 70mph. Flat as a pancake
@royritchie418410 ай бұрын
High airflow code on that age of transit is normally caused by small sensor in intercooler that measures boost temperature.

would the higher airflow from the air leak be demanding extra fuel that the pressure valve can't deliver , giving a fault ?

I’ve got one as a mini bus here’s the issue randomly it will loss power or it will cut out at idle but it will start straight up first turn. It’s had a new cam chain kit including oil pump & 4 new ford injectors and codes put in ecu for them and a new egr valve fitted. The issue can go away for weeks at a time then it will have a spate of it and it drives you mad. Oh it’s also had a new mass air flow sensor. It is showing a clutch switch issue but as far as I can tell it’s a false error as brake lights work/cruise control works fine and engine revs adjust when clutch pushed down. I’m currently at a complete loss with it
