This video did show me all I wanted to know :) I am confident that by the help of this I could do the job myself but I am to lazy and lack the tools. My 2012 Ford Transit has leaked oil all over the right rear break discs.. I will get it fixed at repair shop in Finland before they close the border again in a few days because of the corona hysteria (1/3rd the cost of getting it done here in Norway).

My word Paul I'm going to have to stop watching these video's because they bring back a lot of memories of my younger days! (mixed feelings, boy did I get into trouble off my mum when I stripped my mini engine on the kitchen floor!)) You are so right about having the tools for the job. there's only so much you can achieve with a crow bar and a big hammer (ha ha). Thanks for this.

Thanks buddy I don't know why they don't use stainless anyway unless it's the cost
@lifeRobrandom
@lifeRobrandom 2 жыл бұрын
@@sharpeysgarage4758 the reason they wouldn't use stainless steel from factory is basically because of the galvanic corrosion between the stainless steel and the steel also stainless steel is not any good for structural used ie suspension components and running gear I would recommend going and changing these back to steal before the galvanic corrosion makes these things harder to get out than the original Steel ones

So I'm guessing the bearings are lubed by the diff oil. Did you put a bit of grease on them for the initial lube.

Avoid stainless steel as you'll end up with galvanic corrosion.

3/4" torque wrench cost me £125 which I thought was good value and was also a Teng quality tool. £25 for the 3/4" breaker bar. So will cost you over £200 just for the tools needed..

Mate, thanks for doing this video. It's excellent and helped me a lot. How did you go with those cheap seals? Hope you don't mind me contributing but for anyone reading who's in need of a big torque wrench; you can get the 430Nm required by hanging a 22kg weight on a ridgid horizontal lever at 2m distance from the center of the hub nut. This is the same as 44kg at 1m (if you have that weight available, enough vertical space to accomodate it and someone to assist) but is more manageable. Gym weights would be ideal but a bag of cement plus a couple of litres of water will also give you that weight in a compact package.

+Toby hi Toby I've not took discs of but from what I've read you will need a puller to pull the abs ring of and maybe some heat I was going to change discs but when I cleaned the discs up they weren't that bad so I would have a good look before you spend any money good luck buddy
