I was excited for a little bit, but the longer I watched, the less excited I got. And why the heck would they go to not only a timing belt, but also a belt driven oil pump - both of which look brutally difficult to get to?!?!?! I don't think I'd never own one of those. Sure it's cool for the first 70,000 miles, but after that, it looks like it'll basically be disposable.
@jackking55675 жыл бұрын
Yup my son's a car mechanic and tells me the Ecoboost engines are great but once at 70k miles they implode or have too many problems.
@gordonhodgson84035 жыл бұрын
Did that man just say belt driven oil pump??
@jackking55675 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Regardless of teeth in the belt - they all sap energy through tension and rolling force. It's less efficient than a gear train and more prone to breakage (no oil = ded engine). This is simply Ford making things that cannot be repaired. Another example is the sealed cam system - that's a whole new cam set and metal holder/cradle which will cost far too much. This isn't about eco and saving the planet - this is about giving work to Ford service dealerships. Don't even get me started on adblu injection. Combine adblu to the fuel figures quoted and add in the chemical processing to make adblu and ship it. My son's a car mechanic and the Ecoboost engines are only good for 70k miles and then they fall to bits.

@gregorymalchuk2726 жыл бұрын
Apple_Marty Czech It's just crazy. The moment in the 1980's when engineers and the cost accounting bean-counters became comfortable with timing belts in interference engines, was the beginning of the end of the automobile.
@MRtucnakCZE6 жыл бұрын
I don't mind interference engine, as long as it has atleast chain-driven oilpump. Better yet, chain-driven camshafts. I mean, any engine can do milion miles with proper maintanance. The difference is when you really start abusing it. Something is gonna break. And nowadays engines are made to not just break, but to self-destruct when abused. Thumbs up for 2L diesel, but thumbs down the dorky belt-driven oil pump.
@gregorymalchuk2726 жыл бұрын
Apple_Marty Czech Yeah, but a timing belt failure on an interference engine is just as fatal as an oil pump failure would be. The engine I was thinking of was the little 4 cylinder diesels used in the 1980's Volkswagen Golfs and Rabbits. It was a an awesome engine, and extremely fuel efficient, but it was an interference engine with a timing belt, and many have died because of this.
@MRtucnakCZE6 жыл бұрын
I have old VW engine, with belt on it and its old as 20 years. Still running. Belt been changed every 4 years or so and until recently it was always filled up with oil bit over the top mark on the oil stick. It ain't no performer, nor sounding great, but it goes. It's bulletproof design, the relic of 70's/80's technology.

Another genius at FORD , wet belts no thanks
@druginducedfeverdream16136 жыл бұрын
A belt? Not a chain? Apparently Ford is still in the 90s. News flash, giving your engine a fancy environmentally friendly name, and having an englishman narrate your videos does not make it innovative.

Don't forget $1500/year for Uranus.......I mean Urea.

See how this video is from Ford Europe? That’s probably why it’s an English guy narrating it.

Mark, wow you're a dipshit. First there's nothing better about a belt except profit. And it's Found On Road Dead. Ford isn't spelled Fodr.

As a heavy equipment and truck mechanic I absolutely hate the direction FoMoCo has taken in the way they are designing and building their trucks. They are / will be long term night mare for the owners

how can a belt driven oil pump get an award
@0067jon3 жыл бұрын
Belt in oil is just looking for an early failure. My previous Mk4 Mondeo 1.8 nearly had a snapped belt. I replaced it at 90k which was well below the recommended interval. The belt was cracked between every tooth . The correct ford oil had been used since new.

So ureia is used in this engine? So we get to piss in the tank too?

Oil pumps should NEVER be a maintenance item.

Thanks for the presentation. I specifically went on to buy the 1.5tdci instead of the ecoblue as the ecoblue seams like a maintenance nightmare.
