I'm not trying to be mean as I say this. I'm wanting to tell students what many lifelong Canadians have experienced recently. Maybe it will shed a light somewhere in regards to 2024 changes. Since 2020, international students have been flocking to a educational system that many Canadians now feel was used (by many of them) as a loophole-to-immigration. Students utilizing schooling as a back-door (not front-door) ticket to Canada. Swarming a system that was not not NOT designed to be about EVERY international student wanting Permanent Residency. Now all Canadians have clued in that Canada's post secondary education system has (in 4 years time) turned into EDUGRATION. Something that the PUBLIC schools were not PRIMARILY created for. Plus edugration (public or private) was NEVER approved by everyday Canadians. Plus what about Ghost Consulting that Canada told India to halt? Canadians want the $ greedy agents in other countries to stop MARKETING & LYING to their own people about access to PR or citizenship … or accommodation/jobs … in places like Canada being relatively easy (to get). And for any people living in western countries to be ashamed of themselves if they're getting greedy too. Anyone doing things to make $ off of people's PR desires. At best, there is a 25% chance of gaining PR (better odds if you are masters/medicine etc.). Are all international students truly Scholars … or more-so Economic Migrants (who also BORROWED $ to buy their way to the head of the immigration line)? To say all the students or their consultants back home have not been at times 'gaming' Canada's education programs to gain western PR or $ is ridiculous. Students have contributed to Canada's housing crisis because 97% came-to-stay ... not just visit with their TEMPORARY STUDY permit. This extreme NEVER existed at schools 4+ years ago. What about the IELTS spouses? Anchor babies? Fraud? False asylum claims? What about Canadian food banks & charity services being recklessly advertised on YT in Indian languages? What about Canadian housing being scooped up en-mass as investment vehicles by/for internationals? What about home rental/boarding signs stating "vegetarians only can apply"? What about Indian nationals buying local businesses then putting Indians only in the key positions while also drastically changing work practices that include working longer hours for less $ and the Caste System? Canadians are worried about this because more & more are experiencing it firsthand. Even in small towns. Then throw in all the Sikh vs Hindu violence/extortions across Canada. Diasporas stirring up tribal hatreds (in Canada) … even though it all stems from their ancestral home. How can peace be found anywhere with this in play? Plus the Canadian government recently launched investigations in regards to foreign interference in Canadian elections. All stemming from Asia continent. Canadians are so so so not used to all this. So many, who have embraced multi-culturalism and immigration for decades are now VERY worried and fearful. All are praying it doesn't turn into great anger. Canadians want multi-culturism to succeed and for all people (including immigrants) to be okay. Everyone I know is VERY happy with IRCC's recent changes (reductions & multifaceted investigations etc.). Including multi-generational long-term Asian-Canadians where many have been the MOST upset (by all of this). PS Canadians are aware that some great students are going through hell. And know Canada is partially to blame which hurts Canadian hearts. But bottom-line, Canada decides what needs to be done in Canada. Do you see Canadians protesting in other countries (that is not their own) making demands for themselves? No. Do Canadians now see primarily South Asians protesting in Canada, making demands (due to IRCC pumping it's immigration brakes because it REALLY HAS TO)? Yes. If 36,000,000 Canadians travelled to India, since 2020, with the primary goal of being able to stay there permanently, that would raise India's population by 2.65%. Recent migrators after PR … especially international students... have raised Canada's population higher than 2.65%. Changes (& deportations) are occurring in 2024, for HUGE reasons. In Canada, UK, Australia and other western countries too.
@ras3054Ай бұрын
Thank you for saying exactly what is on my mind; you expressed everything clearly. First, online education marketers are also responsible for the surge in the exploitation of the Canadian Education System for permanent residency purposes. Some of us have been cautioning these KZfaqrs to be measured in how they openly market Canadian schools as 'EASY' pathways to permanent residency. But we were tagged as Selfish doomsayers who do not wish to see our 'brethren' succeed as we have. It is an embarrassment to see how Canada quickly turned into what it is today. I am a West African who has lived and studied in Europe for 7 years (2 Master's degrees + a prestigious teaching position at a European University). It is disappointing that those of us with a genuine interest in pursuing education have to endure the hell that Canada has allowed to fester as a result of the neurotic immigration policy decisions by the immigration ministers. When I arrived in Canada recently, finding accommodation was difficult, coupled with ridiculously high rental prices. The education experience has also not been so great. The large student numbers appear to overwhelm the professors. I am personally happy with the recent IRCC changes, not because I do not wish 'my brethren' to also succeed. But because I believe people should do the right thing. When avenues for genuine scholars are exploited to the level that things are in Canada right now by Permanent Residency and Economic Migrants, the overall education experience is affected negatively. On the socioeconomic front, Canada's brand of Multiculturalism, diversity, and inclusion appears to be accommodating people from some particular cultures who don't practice these concepts. I will just leave it here..

The rules never even changed is the funny thing. The government always had the right to choose who gets invited to stay in this province. They are just angry because the province has decided to go with people in the health care and construction industry instead of people in food service and retail. They also took more people in 2023 and now they are complaining because the number isn't staying up and saying that the province reduced it's intake by 25%. They didn't. They just moved the level back to what it was in 2022 and every year before that. Give an inch and take a mile, that's what they do.

I hear ya. I live in PEI, and my ancestors have been here for thousands of years. They may not like it but they need to accept that it is what it is. People can't just demand permanent residency. It was never guaranteed. I'm Indigenous and I'm married to an immigrant. We married 13 months before he moved here. He had to go back to England for a full 13 months, and it was HARD on our family. He is educated, he has a bachelor's degree with a double major. While he was in England we had to pay for, and undergo, various checks including detailed criminal background checks and health checks to prove we weren't trying to take advantage of the system. When he moved here he was without a work permit for 18 MONTHS and we had to prove to the government when he entered the country that we had the money to support ourselves the for however long it took to get a work permit. They checked our bank accounts, credit debt, you name it. We have been married for almost 12 years now, and later this year he will have lived here for 11 years. It's insane to me that they think they can move provinces and take advantage of the student system to demand permanent residency. If they want permanent residency, do it right. They need to back to their country and apply on their own merit. They don't deserve special treatment. Just because some were able to cheat the system doesn't mean we should allow others to keep doing it. These are my thoughts and feelings. We worked hard and we followed the rules to get my husband into this country so we could be together. They should have to follow the rules as well. The rules weren't changed like they state they were, they simply tightened up on the rules preventing more people from cheating the system."

We went through the immigration process the legal way and not by using loopholes that were missed in government programs When my husband moved here we had to pass various criminal record checks and health checks to make sure we weren't trying to cheat the system, and we had to pay for each and every one. We paid at every step of the immigration process, we had to prove we had enough money and good credit to provide for ourselves on just my income until he got a work permit, which took 18 months. We had to have thousands of dollars in savings and every step costs money. I'm indigenous and this is my husband we are talking about. These people waltzed in here on a student visa, many of them obtained with false college acceptance letters, no criminal record check, almost no money, and looking for government hand outs. They have videos online about how to get free food from food banks in Canada. It's not all immigrants that are the problem. Clearly this guy did it legally and he's saying it's a privilege to have PR, not a right. He got in here on his own merit which is great. If they wanted to get PR legally then there is something called as an IMMIGRATION process where thousands of people are doing the legit way. Last but not least, in my opinion these protesters are being misguided or taking same path as some who took similar approach for the WP extension in ONT and got away with extension.

There are too many, but it is the government’s fault. In the last couple of years Canada accepted 500k student immigrants, about 250k were from India. The other 250k were from different countries. The Canadian government has made no effort to assimilate them, so they act as if they are in India, which stokes resentment from locals. In addition, they practice discriminatory hiring practices - hiring only Indians, when you confront them about it, they say you’re being racist but when in fact they are the ones being racist by hiring only Indians. Stoking more resentment. A lot of their student visas are set to expire, but the Canadian has given them an extension which in turn will give them more points to get their PR cards. Prolonging the current housing shortage. I believe everyone deserves a fair opportunity, but the Canadian government has given preference to a country that is clearly undermining it to a point where they are carrying out assassinations on Canadian soil. The assassins came here on student visas. The current Canadian government is ruining the cultural fabric of this country. Stephen Harper was a great prime minister after all.

Lol, learn the facts first. They cheated the system. I live in PEI and many of these people came here just to cheat the system. You also should look at the numbers properly. It's only a drop of 25% from the 2023 numbers, these numbers align with the years prior to 2023. 2023 they gave more status to more people in the PNP program than usual. Give an inch and they want a mile. Also a lot of them came in with false documentation claiming to be students, and yet they STILL want to stay. They need to go. Reply

If they can do security work they can study while they are at their cushy but cheap paying post and focus on their studies while getting paid at the same time and this needs to be encouraged.
@MMLFrostypixie27 күн бұрын
Dude, you clearly don't live in PEI. Many of them aren't even really students. They got in with fake acceptance letters from college's that don't exist. They aren't working these jobs while they are in education. They are fighting for PR so they can stay. We don't have room for them. We legit have no housing, you can't get in to see the doctor even when you are urgent, they are taking all the jobs that our students should be able to work while they are in school, they came in with no criminal record checks, you can't even take a cab anymore in Charlottetown because so many of them are perverts that you have to worry about being assaulted if you do. Crime has gone way up here, and yes, it is them committing the crimes. It's craziness. I'm indigenous and I'm honestly thinking of packing up and leaving the country, the land of my ancestors. It's fucking nuts!!!

Thanks for sharing bro...which province can u suggest for international students as it stands now.i was considering PEI in 2025/2026 academic session but due to this changes I'm thinking of another province cos my program is in Hospitality. Pls what's your inputs?
@JohnAnderson-sq8ltАй бұрын
we don't students for Hospitality! you won't get in with that course
@ft1725Ай бұрын
You need to actually come for a real education. Hospitality is a bullshit program. Your hospitality degree is bullshit and you know it. You will be pushed out. Study for a real skill. You need to be trained for healthcare and not the easy stuff in healthcare. Nursing, radiologist, etc. or carpenter, mechanic, etc. None of these bullshit degrees. You also need to speak English well. You should be able to have in depth business conversations with people in English. You have to know the history of Canada to understand its culture. Don’t try to show up to a country you know nothing about with the expectation you will do well. You need to understand Canada’s political stance, important books, etc. Finally, you have to make sure you can afford to be here. Going to food banks to sustain yourself is not acceptable. Most international students come there with the idea it is free food. That is not the intention of food banks. Born and raised Canadians will look down on you for taking from these places, and coming to the country with no real money without having to extract resources from the country.

Even if you wanted to come to PEI you won't get a study permit now. Advice, change your program. Go into construction or health care or you won't get in to Canada anywhere.

Rules have not changed - they just do not understand the rules. Someone hand them out the Atlantic Canada immigration tules to read. If they can not read they should have not been accepted as students to qualifying programs. Ontario is not Atlantic Canada. They also need to apply and it does not mean they have to be approved if they apply.

He's an idiot, Canada doesn't want/need him. He complained about having to pay international prices for tuition. Tuition is partially subsidized for Canadian students. He just wants everything for free.
