I am an indian. First these people misuse the system( most of them use study visa as backdoor entry to immigrate) and when govt gets strict, they started cry..

I'm not trying to be mean as I say this. I'm wanting to tell students what many lifelong Canadians have experienced recently. Maybe it will shed a light somewhere in regards to 2024 changes. Since 2020, international students have been flocking to a educational system that many Canadians now feel was used (by many of them) as a loophole-to-immigration. Students utilizing schooling as a back-door (not front-door) ticket to Canada. Swarming a system that was not not NOT designed to be about EVERY international student wanting Permanent Residency. Now all Canadians have clued in that Canada's post secondary education system has (in 4 years time) turned into EDUGRATION. Something that the PUBLIC schools were not PRIMARILY created for. Plus edugration (public or private) was NEVER approved by everyday Canadians. Plus what about Ghost Consulting that Canada told India to halt? Canadians want the $ greedy agents in other countries to stop MARKETING & LYING to their own people about access to PR or citizenship … or accommodation/jobs … in places like Canada being relatively easy (to get). And for any people living in western countries to be ashamed of themselves if they're getting greedy too. Anyone doing things to make $ off of people's PR desires. At best, there is a 25% chance of gaining PR (better odds if you are masters/medicine etc.). Are all international students truly Scholars … or more-so Economic Migrants (who also BORROWED $ to buy their way to the head of the immigration line)? To say all the students or their consultants back home have not been at times 'gaming' Canada's education programs to gain western PR or $ is ridiculous. Students have contributed to Canada's housing crisis because 97% came-to-stay ... not just visit with their TEMPORARY STUDY permit. This extreme NEVER existed at schools 4+ years ago. What about the IELTS spouses? Anchor babies? Fraud? False asylum claims? What about Canadian food banks & charity services being recklessly advertised on YT in Indian languages? What about Canadian housing being scooped up en-mass as investment vehicles by/for internationals? What about home rental/boarding signs stating "vegetarians only can apply"? What about Indian nationals buying local businesses then putting Indians only in the key positions while also drastically changing work practices that include working longer hours for less $ and the Caste System? Canadians are worried about this because more & more are experiencing it firsthand. Even in small towns. Then throw in all the Sikh vs Hindu violence/extortions across Canada. Diasporas stirring up tribal hatreds (in Canada) … even though it all stems from their ancestral home. How can peace be found anywhere with this in play? Plus the Canadian government recently launched investigations in regards to foreign interference in Canadian elections. All stemming from Asia continent. Canadians are so so so not used to all this. So many, who have embraced multi-culturalism and immigration for decades are now VERY worried and fearful. All are praying it doesn't turn into great anger. Canadians want multi-culturism to succeed and for all people (including immigrants) to be okay. Everyone I know is VERY happy with IRCC's recent changes (reductions & multifaceted investigations etc.). Including multi-generational long-term Asian-Canadians where many have been the MOST upset (by all of this). PS Canadians are aware that some great students are going through hell. And know Canada is partially to blame which hurts Canadian hearts. But bottom-line, Canada decides what needs to be done in Canada. Do you see Canadians protesting in other countries (that is not their own) making demands for themselves? No. Do Canadians now see primarily South Asians protesting in Canada, making demands (due to IRCC pumping it's immigration brakes because it REALLY HAS TO)? Yes. If 36,000,000 Canadians travelled to India, since 2020, with the primary goal of being able to stay there permanently, that would raise India's population by 2.65%. Recent migrators after PR … especially international students... have raised Canada's population higher than 2.65%. Changes (& deportations) are occurring in 2024, for HUGE reasons. In Canada, UK, Australia and other western countries too.

We need health care workers and skilled trades. If that’s not what you’re here for then Canada does not need you!

Please leave. International students coming from India over the last several years are just an entitled bunch. You can’t just protest for PR. Do you have international students in India? Are they doing the same? Do you have foreigners living in India protesting for PR?

Protesting is not the way to get PR. The rules were changed you should find other ways to qualify for PR simple. They don't need more service or retail workers

Time to go home and apply for the job that is in demand !

I visited my stepmom in Winnipeg last summer, and didn’t recognize the place. Storefront signs; bus-stop ads and even billboard ads in Waverley Heights were in Chinese !!! I took cabs to/from the airport as well as to get around town and every cab driver was Indian. Even in the malls there were almost as many men wearing turbans as not. My prior visit to Winnipeg was in 2018, and it was nothing like that. Canada needs to get a grip and look out for Canadians first, before you lose your country entirely.

The Government of India says it is doing very well, then why they went to Canada ?. Didn’t they go to Canada for higher studies?. Doesn’t the government of India and other countries send back people to the country of their origin. Doesn’t the country have the right to make laws that are suitable to their country?.

Just think I came here with my family and applied for immigration waited three or more years to get invitation and then wrapped up and came. These guys come here for 8 months certificate program and then go and work in some fast food restaurant and then claim for PR or take refugees they come on visit and then claim for PR. @Chorkor - You have put across your message to all International Students very subtly, 👍 At the same time, what I see looking at these protesters is -"They came to Canada to get PR & education (may be it would have been a 2 year course from a PVT college. I like their honesty, they said, coming to PEI was for an clear objective of getting PR in a more easy way in comparison to the province where they did their education so their motive is clear. If they wanted to get PR legally then there is something called as an IMMIGRATION process where thousands of people are doing the legit way. Last but not least, in my opinion these protesters are being misguided or taking same path as some who took similar approach for the WP extension in ONT and got away with extension.

Provinces have the right to set and change rules at anytime, if you want to get permanent residency, you should return to your home country and start again, there were no guarantees when you came here. You do not have any rights as a non citizen

There are too many, but it is the government’s fault. In the last couple of years Canada accepted 500k student immigrants, about 250k were from India. The other 250k were from different countries. The Canadian government has made no effort to assimilate them, so they act as if they are in India, which stokes resentment from locals. In addition, they practice discriminatory hiring practices - hiring only Indians, when you confront them about it, they say you’re being racist but when in fact they are the ones being racist by hiring only Indians. Stoking more resentment. A lot of their student visas are set to expire, but the Canadian has given them an extension which in turn will give them more points to get their PR cards. Prolonging the current housing shortage. I believe everyone deserves a fair opportunity, but the Canadian government has given preference to a country that is clearly undermining it to a point where they are carrying out assassinations on Canadian soil. The assassins came here on student visas. The current Canadian government is ruining the cultural fabric of this country. Stephen Harper was a great prime minister after all.

It’s true construction is way too “donkey” and labor intensive for Indian students and I feel perhaps doing easy security work should be good enough to allow them to become a Canadian citizen.

Do you guys know how many Canadians are homeless, means they sleep on snow in winter, sleep by the busy street in summer breathing in the street car dust and waste gas every day and night. They are cold and sick. When you immigrate to Canada, you might think that you will be the number one and priority to receive care and rights. What about these homeless and struggling young people that are in drugs? They should wait and while you receive your rights first?

Rules have not changed - they just do not understand the rules. Someone hand them out the Atlantic Canada immigration tules to read. If they can not read they should have not been accepted as students to qualifying programs. Ontario is not Atlantic Canada. They also need to apply and it does not mean they have to be approved if they apply.
