Foreigner is a great British-American rock band who started in 1976. They had a lot of great hits such as "Cold As Ice", “Hot Blooded”, "Urgent", "Juke Box Hero", "Waiting For A Girl Like You", "Double Vision", "Blue Morning, Blue Day", "Dirty White Boy", "Head Games", "Break It Up", "That Was Yesterday", "Say You Will", "I Don't Want To Live Without You" etc.

In the 70's great hits, brilliant albums really did grow on trees. It was so musically overflowing that I am not sure we fully appreciated the richness of it all, but I can say that in the decades since I have fully embraced the 70's. Foreigner were a mind blowing force that swept through my life in the late 70's and can still make me feel as if I am hearing their music for the first time. Thanks.

I saw Foreigner the first time with the Double Vision tour, I was standing 12 feet in front of Lou Gramm, one of the best concerts ever, my ears rang for two days. Just FYI, Lou is considered one of the best rock singers ever, I think you will come around once you hear more if his and Foreigner's work.

They definitely were not prog rock, but Ian McDonald did bring in those weird unexpected bits like the bridge in this or songs like "starrider". When he left in 1980, they went for a much more straightforward sound with songs like , "urgent" and " nightlife". Not a bad thing, but I missed having that one guy in the band who was much more avante-garde than the other members

The use of these keyboards and various other instruments used in the 60's, 70's, and 80's, is what made Rock, Classic Rock and, all heavier music back in the day, in those eras, the GREATEST MUSIC EVER PRODUCED and played. Straight up! This junk today and over the last 20 - 25 yrs doesn't even deserve to be called "Music", imho. Keep up the great work/channel, guys!

I think there are many who would say that the bridge and the synth is the heart of this song. But, you may have needed to experienced that era when you would bought an album and then go home and listen to it every day for 3 months (or more). The commercial juggernaut that is the chorus, though, has overshadowed our collective memories almost completely.

That first album is fire. My favorite song from that album is a deep cut, "Headknocker", but a bunch come close to it. Lou Graham's vocals sound a lot like Paul Rogers of Free and Bad Company. "Long, Long Way from Home" was an early hit but not mentioned as much as the others that came later--was developed more by Ian McDonald so has a nice sax line.

Back when this album came out, I was a top 40's listener. Probably due to laziness (not wanting to get up and change the record), I listened to an entire side one day and realized that everything on there was fantastic!! Same with second side!! To this day, I cannot think of another album (other than a greatest hits) of any band where every. damn. song. was so enjoyable. Welcome to Foreigner!! Buckle up and enjoy the ride.

Great that you guys called out the historical connection of some of the members of Foreigner to the band King Crimson. That group has an incredibly rich catalog of music. I'd recommend starting out an exploration of what they have to offer by checking out the epic, prog-rock classic track titled "21st Century Schizoid Man" off of their 1969 debut album "In the Court of the Crimson King". That particular piece is well recognized as a premier example of "what rock music could be", given that it was put in appropriately skilled and inspired hands. I guarantee that you will not be disappointed!!!

Why do you hear some of "Yes" in the keys? Mick Jones, the founding member of Foreigner was a member of Spooky Tooth, and the rhythm guitarist Ian McDonald, was in King Crimson, both bands known as "Progressive Rock" or Prog Rock. So you get that influence. Lead Singer, Lou Graham, Lead Guitarist, Mick Jones, Bassist, Ed Gagliardi, Keyboardist Al Greenwood, Rhythm Guitar & Sax, Ian McDonald & last, but not least, Dennis Elliott on drums. You can probably tell I'm a huge fan of theirs, lol

I would love for you guys to hit Starrider. It's a deeper cut of the debut album. Very few(like 2) reactions to it. Gives you a taste of all the talent in the band, with Mick Jones doing the lead vocals while Lou Graham also shines. Outstanding, guitar, drums, bass and rhythm. Very deep rabbit hole. Should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Shame. Over 80 million records sold with the 1st 4 albums going 5x Platinum.

It certainly looks like that's about to change with the RRHOF committee firing the scumbag POS Jan Wenner who vowed they'd never be inducted under his watch. He was rightfully fired and Foreigner was FINALLY nominated several months later. Mick's stepson Mark Ronson has made a video in which he's asking fans to vote them into the RRHOF like they deserve.

King Crimson is one of those prog bands that lots of musicians name-check. Several what would be all-star lineups Robert Fripp, Greg Lake, Bill Bruford, John Wetton, Mel Collins, and later with Tony Levin, Adrian Belew and laterTrey Gunn. "In the Court of the Crimson King", "One More Red Nightmare", then the 80's with Adrian Belew - "Sleepless", "Elephant Talk", "Thela Hun Jingeet", "Neal and Jack and Me". Worth the checking out. Also, Robert Fripp's Sunday Lunch KZfaqs with his wife, Toyah Wilcox, are simply lots of fun to watch. Crimson still tours. Caught them a few months ago in Scottsdale. Great band.
