The reason it works so well for you is that this movie is a Bollywood movie, so most viewers of this movie in India also only understand Hindi and not Tamil. Hence the movie is actually made in a way that someone who does not understand any Tamil can still get all the jokes.

A "sweetmeat maker" is just someone who makes and/or sells traditional sweets. These people are called "halwai" (as mentioned in the movie). Usually, halwais are considered poor or people with a lower status which is why Rahul was being made fun of by everyone. It was his family business in the movie which is why they were well off (as shown in the beginning) but when people hear "halwai", they don't really consider the person rich or respectable. Hope you get it!

You know a movie is directed by Rohit Shetty when there are super bright colours and lots of car related scenes (like explosions & stunts)

Well i wasn't expecting you to watch it 😅 but , I'm sure many jokes and dialogues are going above your head because to understand you have to Hindi.😂 And i remember that this film was running and was so famous on the time when we went to Chennai and felt the whole train vibe, it took 2 whole day to reach there. 6:13 these bgms are from SRK's most famous movie DDLJ. They were not saying North pole south pole , but Kashmir the north part of India and kanyakumari the southest of India.

The last song will only be understood by indians . So i will have to explain you a little. The song is dedicated to Rajnikanth a tamil actor who is world wide famous . Fans call him thaliva . The song has lungi ( traditional cloths for men) also worn by south indians (ex. Tamil) . This movie is north indians take on south indians but its not done well so should be just taken for fun . I recommend watching Rajnikanth movies to see his great acting too.

I think it's important to differentiate between the film industries in India, especially Bollywood (hindi language films) and regional film industries, instead of just calling it "Indian cinema" cuz that's way too broad a term for the difference in content and production between Bollywood and the others.
