You really have to give it to the Dominion. They have only been around for two seasons and in that time they've played the major powers of the Alpha quadrant for fools. They baited the Obsidian Order and Tal Shiar, two of the most powerful and ruthless intelligence agencies in the entire franchise, and wipe them out leaving the Romulan's crippled and leading to the fall of the Obsidian Order and the whole Cardassian government. They then launch a bomb attack on Earth which results in a Federation Civil War almost breaking out. Now we learn that the Klingon Empire has been under the control of the Founders this whole time meaning the Klingons attacks against the Cardassian's and the Federation are all part of the Founders plans to leave the powers of the quadrant crippled and helpless before a Dominion invasion. For a faction that is only two years old that is an impressive series of moves and really shows how dangerous the Dominion really is.

Not certain if you realize it but actor Jeffrey Combs who plays the Vorta Weyoun also plays the Ferengi Brunt FCA he is incredible in both roles of DS9

TNG and Voyager did end of season cliffhanger 2-parters. DS9 did amazing one parters which still had cliffhanger but more like they were tastes of things to come

Broken Link's quite a banger. The changeling's "dead dead dead" speech to Garak was quite chilling. I don't think I've ever seen him panicked like he is when he attempts to destroy the planet. And after The Quickening... I'm not at all sure Garak was wrong to do this.

Ollie, as a response to the downvotes on your singing, your response in the next reaction should be to sing the WHOLE SONG. And work in the names of the credits as a part of it. Looking forward to it.

This is the sort of thing you only catch when rewatching the series, but we’ve seen smuggler with the purple hair (who Odo tries to arrest) multiple times before. Way back in S2 opener, she gave Li Nalas’ earring to Quark. I believe she also sold Quark the crashed ship that had the baby Jem’ Hadar on board.

Body Parts is a great example of how writers can do so much more in sci-fi when "life happens" to the actors. Nana Visitor was pregnant, and if you look in later episodes, she's more in a secondary role, wearing looser fitting clothes, sitting behind desks more, basically to hide the small bump, but it came a time when they could no longer hide the bump. Rather than writing her out of the beginning of Season 5 or entirely from the show, they made the story to fit her pregnancy into canon. And remember, this is also Alexander Siddig's son she's pregnant with, so it affected 2 actors.

I kind of like the singing. Lots of dour stuff right now, fun to see someone enjoying themselves. On the first Rom has certainly come a long way from the guy who wanted to kill his brother to get the bar! I think this is more like rewriting him around season 2 or 3 than precisely character growth, but this Rom is a mostly better character. As for the contract thing on seeing your reaction I wonder why the Ferengi don't have arbitration. It feels like Quark should be able to be like "I obviously meant you'll get my body when I die and you still will it's just going to be a bit later than you anticipated. Can't you just charge me a late fee?" Also Brunt doesn't care about profit in this deal, so I feel like someone should be able to shame him on that. On the other though I like Data I do like Odo is "different" in a way where he likes it that way. Sometimes Trek gives a vibe like everyone envies humans, including even the Q at one point, so Odo being like "No, I don't" is kind of refreshing. They give you a good sense how this is truly upsetting for him. That being a single shaping is confining for him even, making his body like a prison. Salome Jens Founder's speech is also classic. Sidenote: I'm a conservatish Gen-X American, but I want you to know I'm sorry people on the Right insulted you as overly woke or whatever. I actually find you more apolitical than many reactors I watch. And even if I didn't if I wanted my own views of these episodes or life I can just rewatch them on my own.

Weyoun infected Odo with the disease in To the Death. However, it is difficult to see because Levar Burton decided to do extreme close-ups during the exchange. The original intention in the script was Weyoun to put his hand on Odo's arm to give him the infection, and you kind of see it if you know what to look for but it isn't obvious due to the close up shot. Looked better, cinematically, but makes knowing when he got infected less obvious.

Regarding Nana Visitor‘s pregnancy, they considered making it Shakaar‘s Baby or hide the belly with Clothing and Camera angles (like they did with Gates McFadden halfway through TNG… and would do a second time with Roxann Dawson on _Voyager)_ but they decided on a scientific solution after a freak accident and I thankful that they did. And as pointed out by others, that’s indeed the baby of Visitor and Alexander Siddig. As a sidenote, Quark never told Garak NOT to kill him, didn’t he?

It's almost surprising how well the baby gimmick worked out. It turns out getting Meaney and Visitor in on the same storyline pays dividends - my 2 favorite actors in the main cast!

Was married. I think they divorced. Looking her up Nana Visitor's parents were in dance with Cyd Charisse being an Aunt. Alexander Siddig (Bashir) is of course descended from a man who claimed to be the Muslim Mahdi and his uncle was once the leader of Sudan. So their son, Django it seems, has a fascinating ancestry and a jazzy name.

44:00 DS9 is my favorite ST. As much as I love TNG and TOS, I love the character drama, alien cultures, and galaxy building that having the setting set on a persistent venue affords. If you love DS9 you need to put Babylon 5 on your list of future shows to watch. Its another sci-fi show that takes place on a space station and has alien cultures you learn about over the series. There are a lot of similarities between the two shows in part because the showrunner for B5 went to Paramount with his show as Star Trek on a space station. Well, a short while after turning him down Paramount announces DS9, Star Trek on a space station. There was all sorts of drama over the "borrowing" at the time! The fan drama didn't last too long thankfully and in the end we got two great sci-fi shows out of it in the end.

"You fight well... for a tailor..." isn't an insult - Garak really did hurt him and did some good moves (well, for star trek). Worf's mentioning of "tailor" is him saying he knows he is a cardassian agent (everyone does).

Awful singing over the top of what is possibly the best opening score of Star Trek TV show is just disrespectful. The modulation is off slightly - like nails on a chalkboard. I'm not going to stop watching, but I do skip that part. As far as KZfaq success, you should stop doing anything that limits view time. Just a suggestion.

They needed to make kits pregnant because the actress who plays kids got pregnant by her partner at the time, the actor who plays bashir. Fun fact an actor from the show battle star Galactic a is nearly an exact look a like to the actor who plays bashir,, they even have similar accents.

Two great episodes with completely different dramatic approaches! Body Parts gives us a Ferengi cultural lesson and the return of Jeffrey Combs as Brunt: FCA! We also got some wonderful interactions with Garak! Watching yourself die various ways in your own holosuite must have been disturbing as heck for Quark. Throughout the episode, we see that ROM has a heart of gold. Quark's assets at the end was really touching. Broken Link is the conclusion of last season's finale and is one of the best episodes ever! Kira has begun sneezing for the O'Brien baby- which is adorable. Sisko AGAIN does everything for a member of his crew. I can't imagine many other Captains willing to risk everything for one man. (Well, Kirk would) Garak and Odo have developed their friendship since the two partner where Garak blew up his own shop. Now we have Garak setting Odo up for romance with a stunning Bajoran restauranteur! Garak goes full "mission first" to stop the Founders and gets in some licks on Worf- a ballsy move. The Founder telling Garak "They're ALL dead. YOU'RE dead. CATDASSIA is dead. You were dead the moment you attacked us." was chilling. We waited almost all season for some Changling action and this did not disappoint. Now...what to do about Gowron being a Changling? It could mean all our war with the Klingons.

I'm a little sad the _"You're_ dead. Cardassia is dead." exchange didn't make the edit. Such an abrupt pivot into cold murderousness it stunned even Garak. IMO Salome Jens plays one of the best Trek villains ever but she's super underrated.
