That bill gesture😂😂 i had a dinner with my boss in singapore and when time for the bill he can’t get the waiters attention so i help to take her attention then the waiter notice me so i gestured asking for bills and my boss ask me what are you doing? What do you want let me help you with it! 😆😆 i told him im asking the waiter for our bill! And luckily the waitress is also a Filipina and she get it😂😂

The first one the "kiss" confused me so much first time in Manila :D Other thing that is confusing, is the way most Filipinos wave to get you to come closer. It looks to me the wave is for go away :D

the pointing of the nguso might be due to the fact that the Filipino words equivalent to “that” direction (over there) all contain the “o” or long “u” sound - doon/duon, duman, tua, idtu, ‘yun/hayun, etc. (well, maybe lang naman; please correct me if I’m wrong hehe)

The pointing of the lips instead of a finger because it is rude point to someone's else face "DURO" that's why we point with our lips to avoid that rude gesture.

I agree and sometimes we even have to make our vowels sound longer to approximate how far it is. A simple "doon" wouldn't mean much compared to "dooooooonnn". Am I making sense?

The reason for that first gesture is when someone asked you where it is, you'll respond with "doon" or "dun" which will make the lips move that way and accompanied by an up movement or nod of the head. We don't move our head like a pigeon.

Gesture #4: Raising eyebrows either to mean yes or say hello. Gesture #5: Ducking really low w/ hands in prayer position when they want to pass by. Gesture #6: Opening mouth wide when they didn't hear someone clearly.

the first gesture is actually use when your hands are not available, like you are holding something so you use it, and it also use when what you mean is very far.

Actually the pouting mouth are use to point a direction silenty or when your hands are busy sometimes we use mouth pointing in kitchen.

There was actually a time that the lip pointing gesture actually meant a relative distance... when the person points with his finger, it meant that the place he's referring to is nearby (he can point to it, basically). But when he points with his lips, it meant that "somewhere around that direction" or a fairly long ways off. One time my brother rode a bus to a remote area and it broke down. The driver walked up to one of the locals there to ask if there's a garage nearby and he replied "there" while pointing his lips. That "there"turned out to be a couple of hours' walk.

The pointing of the mouth means the distance that the person refers is very far. If you go to rural areas especially in mindanao, when you ask for a location, if he/she points with his/her mouth, expect that it is very far, literally like you have to cross rivers or hill, but if he/she points with his/her finger, expect it to be relatively nearer. In mindanao, we do not point direction with our mouth if its near, like where's the bathroom, or the library. It'll be illmannered to do that.
