I have been using the Forest Master FM10T-7 Heavy-Duty Electric Log Splitter for a while now and thought it was time I did a more detailed review. Overall it's a great machine, much better than throwing an axe around. Watch the video to see what I liked about it, what I didn't and what it's like to use overall plus how the Duocut blade and ram stop make this model easier and faster to use and alternative models.

Cracking little vid pal. Thank you. Just felled our big willow tree today, and some severe trimming on an Ash tree too, and was thinking about the drill splitter tools, but maybe not!!!

I have the WEN 6.5 Ton, and that work table looks like a nice feature. I may fabricate one for my splitter. Cheers!

Hi mate. Great review. I’m thinking about getting the same model and this review has been very useful. I have a few questions that I wonder if you can answer please. How does it perform on fresh cut hardwood logs? Or do you tend to let the logs dry out for a while, just to make it easier to split and also lift? As you mention, some people commented on using an axe, which is great for exercise but over time, or splitting wet wood, this can actually cause wear and tear

Good video. I am thinking about buying one of these and was wondering how well the dual blade deals with logs cut at an angle. From the video it seems ok but I was wondering whether you have logs that simply slide out of position during the cutting process. With a flat back surface and moving cutting edge I would have thought could be less likely. Firewood that comes out of hedges is all shapes and sizes.

I found fitting the stand legs a bit of a nightmare, my hands are too big to get the nuts into the brackets. Otherwise, simple enough. If you did it in 15 minutes, either your watch stopped or you're a genius. Good video which helped me to decide on buying this particular log splitter.

1 minute non-permanent modification for one-handed operations: Hang a weight off the handle rather than mess around with a foot pedal. It frees up one hand to steady the log (at your own risk) the ram is slow, so the risk is minimal if you're only holding the outside lightly to stop it rolling. It also speeds up cycles as the ram does not auto return, you can leave the collar on full span and pull the leaver up and let go at the precise distance for the next log, so you don't wait extra seconds between each splitting for the ram to travel to the log.

just fitted a foot pedal to mine, very easy to do, gives you the choice of button or foot, never used the button since i fitted it giving you a free hand.

The slow pace of splitting logs with machines like this would wind me up, along with the increased electric bill. fortunately I'm still fit and healthy and split them by hand. By the way you don't "throw an axe around" to split them. You use a maul. And you use it safely and responsibly.

Really slow pace. I'm looking for something like a split-fire but really expensive here. But damn that works fast

If you can afford a petrol Log splitters they are a lot better why?speed no need to speed up the video, there a lot faster more power, maintenance? Is changing oil and filter and making sure dirt does not get into the fuel tank or in the oil, apart from that you will have no problems.the only thing that is good about Electric log splitters, is that you can split logs indoors when it’s raining and there quieter that’s it.

Do not use or buy these 7 ton log splitters, I've only used my one twice and the motor has cracked there bloody useless. I can supply photos if needed. Rubbish.

I've had mine for a few years and still works like new with no issues at all, did you send it back to the retailer. That should not have happened
