I have the BOSS 7 ton machine and split mostly oak. Yep, you have to nibble at big stuff, then you may get oddball pieces, especially for knotty stuff. But it'll do the job, like yours does.

I just bought one and split 1/4 yard + of eucoliptus and it works great. switch mod required.

I believe turning the motor on and off is what burns out the capacitor eventually. I would leave the motor on with a different switch.

Suggest you hone the splitting wedges leading edge to almost knife like. It allows the split to start easier & less stressful for the machine.

Sure will do. Thx.

That was a strange, knotty looking piece of log. No wonder it broke oddly.

So strange, making your splits so small, I like mine about twice the size of yours so a couple make an overnighter fire for my wood heater....also you need to remove those hose clamps so you get another 1/2" length for that longer wood!

My wood burner is small. I used to have a large fireplace before this house and could throw in multiple full log.

Yes but any longer will not fit in my small wood burner.

I think you are very inexperienced with this particular splitter. Otherwise you would have realized that one end was not cut square, so it popped out a couple of times. That end should be toward the splitter head, so that the head would dig in immediately. Also, many times you did not let the ram go to its full length, that caused a partial split which you had to mess around with!
