I'd love for you to make a video on why you love these Subarus so much. Tell us what you do with them after they are fixed and point out the notorious flaws (other than head gaskets) one needs to know about before purchasing. When I was car shopping I really wanted a Forester, but the issues that plague the models in my price range ($10K) had me scared and I bought a 2006 Avalon instead.

That's the first time I've ever seen a single cam with a broken belt run without doing a valve job. You must be living right LOL! I've worked on a bunch of these where the belt popped. Like you said it's usually always the cogged pulley. I've just replaced the belt on other cars but you can't do that on a Subaru the belt design and length of the belt puts a lot of wear on those pulleys.

Dude, that’s awesome that it’s running. It’s like the 98 5-speed Forester I bought, a IACV and rear brakes/rotors was all I needed to swap on a $400 purchase. Doesn’t look as pretty as that though 😂

Great that was an easy fix! My Legacy GT's timing belt snapped and wrecked the valves which eventually led to me selling it. I'm shocked to hear about the sunroof replacement on that 05 being that much. It makes me worry about my current car and making sure that doesn't happen to it!

I had timing belt problem on 2.0 X 06 forester. Timing belt wasnt properly monted and it broke all teethe on it. Car stalled and mobile mechanics told me the engine is gone. So i put car truck and drove it to another mechanics. Guy changed timing belt and car run just fine. I still has it. This happened few years ago and the engine is running like new. The car just refused to die.

Had a 2001 208k Forester and ran perfect, everything worked. Replaced timing belt, gaskets, rad., etc. and after a month it started to overheat and send coolant to the reservoir. Guy who fixed said the block had a hair crack and he will fix it again but charging me. I was so upset and to this day don't know if he was telling the truth. I loved that car. Will never bring my cars to him. I am learning the basics and hoping to find an honest mechanic...

On the gopro, I never wanted to pay 500..00 for a name, I have an Akaso V50 pro and it works great, I've been using it in my videos for the last several. it comes with 2 batteries , charger and all the accessories that comes with gopro.

Wonderful, mine snapped two weeks ago can you enlighten us in how this miracle can happen and the best way to find out if I damage my engine? Some people told if I just manually with a socket give two full turns to the crankshaft and camshafts and the engine is not locked I’m good to go. Is that true?

Hi! On my 2006 Forester 2.0X the left front brake is blocking sometimes. Usually after stopping on a ramp for 10-15 minutes, when I try to go, it feels that the brake(s) is grabbing at least one of the wheels. The steeper the ramp the grippier the start. The left front is for sure, because I drove 200 meters with a hard grip to see which one is it, and it was smoking in the end. The others I don't know for sure. The disks were in poor condition, I have changed those in the front and installed new pads too, on the back I have drum brakes so I have changed only the pads there because the drums were in good condition. After that i had been driving 10-20 km-s with no problem, stopped on a ramp for about 10 minutes and the fckr grabbed the wheel again. The brake fluid wasn't changed and if I brake hard or kick the pedal 1-2 times it releases the brake and everything goes back to normal, it doesn't appears while driving only at the starts at stopping on a ramp. Do you have any idea what causes it and how to fix it? Thanks!

Replace the caliper. Sounds like it's hanging. Also, check the brake lines to that caliper. Make sure it isn't dented, bent, etc. That could cause the caliper to stick.

Hi Mr Subaru! What's your diagnosis on occasional blast of white smoke between gear shifts when on full boost? Doesn't happen all the time and seems to be less likely to happen if throttle is eased open to w.o.t when revs are higher above 3000. Car is a v3 wrx STI type-ra. Mostly standard apart from hks pod filter, 3" turbo back exhaust, 300lph fuel pump and td05 20g. All mods are from previous owner and big turbo is laggy. Standard ecu running 15psi or 1bar.

so jelly of that interior. with a truck, trailer, spare parts, a local salvage yard, and a garage full of snap-on you great deals ... without those, you're out $5000. the horror of scraping the car without even trying a tb change proves out $250/hr dealer service costs.
