Cool Forgotten Weapons merch! shop.bbtv.com/collections/forg...
Possibly the coolest small arm used by the United States in the Vietnam War was the China Lake 40mm pump action grenade launcher. Only 24 of these were made, each fitted by hand. Of those, 2 went to MACVSOG, 2 to Army Force Recon, and the remaining 20 the the Navy SEALS. They were used as an ambush initiation weapon, with 4 rounds of rapid-fire 40mm HE grenades available.
Only five original examples survive today; four in US museums and military institutions and one in a museum in Saigon. An effort was made in 2004 to build reproductions, it is one of those used in this video. This project was not ultimately successful, but did lead to a very interesting series of events with the Airtronic company and the US Marine Corps, which will be detailed in a following video. Special thanks to Dutch Hillenburg and Kevin Dockery for making this video possible!

The leaf sight was okay for close range, direct fire. The quadrant sight is needed for indirect fire and longer range use, it's also more accurate in my experience. every time I got the china lake grenade launcher in BO1 zombies and since it was an explosive weapon, it'd damage you if you were close to the explosion (if you are the user). it does work effectively from far away because you can kill a lot of zombies with one entire "mag" (2 shots). @@MandolinMagi ya know i tried looking it up and I couldn't find any info on the gun itself, however the show had a really dark ending. It was a goofy show about making weird gun ideas (like quad mounted ARs on a truck for no reason, that type of thing). But the lead host of the show was arrested back in 2017. He had been found guilty of raping two little girls aged 11 to 13 and was convicted to 40 years on top of a double life sentence. It was really surprising when it happened obviously, but it was very upsetting because he hosted the show with his adult daughter, who came forward and divulged terrible details about the man her father was. Overall a very wildly dramatic ending to a generally boring show.

Were 40mm grenades ever manufactured with a cluster or MIRV payload?

@@MurcuryEntertainment I'm not sure, but they have the M576 40 mm buckshot load for use in the M79. It would transform the China Lake grenade launcher into a shotgun on steroids😎

@@Spike-13 the M576 is surprisingly weak as a buckshot round, it's equal to a 20ga in pellet count and velocity.
