This show changed my relationship with food. I couldn't gain weight and it hurt my health. I stopped thinking you only eat when you're hungry (which I never was) you do it to fuel your body. Popcorn didn't count as a meal. I needed protein, and to actually balance my diet. I'm finally in a health BMI range. I know my issues were very different from these people's, but I realized it's about your relationship with food. It clicked for me watching the show, and was able to apply it to myself. Thanks Dr. Now!

Watching this kind of show has inspired me to not give up on losing weight, because I do not want to find myself weighing 400+ pounds & developing diabetes. I've had too many family members lose their lives to diabetes. I've been eating low-carb for 2 years. Lost 80 lbs & my glucose levels are normal. I still enjoy sweets & bread, but they're eaten only for special occasions. It's OK. I'd rather have my health.

I think I might have been pre-diabetic just before Christmas, I certainly had some of the symptoms, especially the metabolic syndrome. And that really shook me up. When one of my neighbours was diagnosed with full on Diabetes, I decided I had to do something, and started watching these and similar videos. Watching other nutrition videos as well, I came to realise that my love of bread was fuelling most of the problem (since the rest of my diet is okay. I don't eat much sweet stuff, eat lots of fruit and veg, only a little rice and pasta on occasion). So I was really puzzled as to why I was hanging onto my weight, thinking good healthy bread was just fine to eat. Once I removed all the bread, I've started losing weight at a nice, even pace. 8lbs since mid December. I honestly thought I was just going to be stuck with my (not too excessive, but stubborn) weight for the rest of my life. I could not understand how women my age and older were succeeding, and I wasn't, no matter how hard I tried. But it seems that carbs, from bread in particular, were my big problem.

This woman will get far in life if she sticks to it, the first thing she's excited to do is clean her house, scrub the toilet and that to me is the most positive thing one can do for their mental health because if your personal space, the only place you have to escape the world...if that's not clean and organized then nothing else will. And might I add that her home is one of the cleanest we've seen on this show which means when she couldn't do it ...she taught her daughters that skill, I really wish her the best because you'd be shocked at how many people can't clean.

I was the same after shunt surgery after 30 years of chronic pain I haven’t lost much weight not that I’m massive but it wasn’t the weight that was the weight holding me down. Since I got the shunt and the pressure in my brain sorted i did actually lose 2 stone before lockdowns then regained most of it and since lost a stone again. I just need to get more active again. But the biggest thing is I keep up significantly better with my home and day to day life. But then it’s not so hard to when everything doesn’t hurt anymore, putting shoes and socks on isn’t a massive effort (my joints were sort of stiff before) I couldn’t shower without it wiping me out badly, it got to a point where any simple task like cutting up a piece of wood with a saw or using a screwdriver broke me out in a sweat at the knowledge of what it was gonna do to my head I’d end up with thumping debilitating pain. But since the shunt that’s not the case. It’s hard to reverse so many decades of “if I do that I’m gonna suffer for it” to how it is now that yeh I’ll be tired but I’m not gonna hurt. I gained weight because I was so sick for so long I was a normal weight for about 8 years while already in pain but nope doctors don’t want to accept that it’s about plumbing in the brain and other factors not just weight. They are so blinkered it’s unbelievable.

I've implemented a 1200 calories low carb high protein diet in my own life. In two weeks, I have lost 6 pounds. Now I know that won't stay that way as I get closer to medically normal weight. But I am over 70 pounds above the top number in the healthy range, so it should continue for a while. I feel fortunate that I can at least tell people honestly what caused the weight gain. Zyprexa an antipsychotic medication...it's one of only a few that work for me. But it makes me always hungry no matter how much I eat. I put on 90 pounds in 9 months on the medication. Normally this would be discontinued as a treatment, but my illness is such that the negatives of not taking the medication is greater than the weight gain.

I don’t think you understand enabling. First off, she was very uncomfortable with naming an enabler. She only did so because Dr. Now ASKED. Secondly, she chose the food. Enablers are the ones who bring the food. That is what enabling is - allowing someone else to engage in destructive behaviors. I know that you don’t like fat people, but look for something else to pick at instead of the answer to a question that the doctor asked.

5"1 wow it alot on her body. Why do she need the wheelchair? I didn't know she had kids. I hope the weight loss surgery worked for her.
