Hum, split reins are called for, but not required, you may not be aware of the many different set-ups for "reins and bits" and the control of horses. Also, "long split reins with weighted ends" can be sued as weapons.

Absolutely correct!! It's not just a right to protect the animal it's also their job! They have to protect those officers just like a partner. And when I say officers I mean the horses!! Can you imagine what the headlines would be if they just let those guys grab the bits of the horse and the animal spun around just like it should do just like it was trained to do when a side of it's bit is pulled, but if it got spooked and it kicked one or two of those guys!! A horse kick is not something you want to mess around with! Spinning the reins like that not whipping, spinning probably saved those guys from a much worse injury. The way they all rushed at the horse from different angles like they did. A horses vision is not like ours at all more the opposite really. We see right Infront of us and not so much to the sides. A horse can't see directly in front but can see really good to the sides and those guys running up like that would be see an a threat and that horse would defend itself it's a natural function and they are lucky that officer was there to make that not happen really!!

Seriously: hundreds of thousands or a couple millions (as we had 'em in Germany in 2015) of people not able to communicate locally, not willing to culturally assimilate properly and not loyal to anything else than their own stomachs or probably parts of their tribes, if at all, *_really are_* a problem. A problem in dire need of being dealt with, no room for further hesitation, with "no room" counting in hours more than days. As a horse trainer, I'm furious that they are accused of whipping the illegal immigrants. They were "twirling" the reins as a cue to get the horse to move. They weren't whipping anyone. I'm so angry about the lies.

How about we don't use animals to "drive off humans" to help reduce the anger and confusion. Same way Baltimore city has a k-9 patrol. Inappropriate. Sicking animals on humans because you can't match their athleticism is wrong. If you can't apprehend a Haitian on foot in water then say that. Using a horse to do a man's job is dumb. This is not a CATTLE drive. These are people!!!! Their actions are cruel and inhumane towards migrants seeking asylum after their county was destroyed by an act of GOD. I've seen these countless videos at different angles of the border patrol on horse back and I have yet to see anyone get whipped or beat. I WANT TO SEE SOME FOOTAGE! I have seen some remarkable cutting horses and horsemanship.
