Former Laker Lonzo Ball OBLITERATES Lakers Guard Austin Reaves By Saying THIS On His Podcast...
Lonzo Ball recently sat down on his podcast to discuss the Lakers playoff run and he made a shocking statement about Lakers Guard Austin Reaves. Join the conversation below and don't forget to subscribe for future content on Former Laker Lonzo Ball OBLITERATES Lakers Guard Austin Reaves By Saying THIS On His Podcast...
Lonzo Ball got real about the Los Angeles Lakers' tepid end to the season, losing 4-1 in the first round to the Denver Nuggets. The loss led to the Lakers firing Darvin Ham, as the coach was held responsible for his tactical shortcomings. Lonzo Ball thinks Ham isn't the only person to blame, and that the players and coaches should share responsibility.
“Speaking from personal experience, I'm not able to point the finger. I think it’s the group. I've seen a lot of players mess up. I've seen AD not touch the ball in the fourth, I've seen Bron get backcut, and I've seen rebounds be missed... Y'all just lost to a better team."
Ball broke down the bits of the Lakers offense that didn't make sense to him, emphasizing how the team should have run the offense through Anthony Davis.
"Personally, it looks like some better adjustments could’ve been made… Give AD the ball. Post or mid-post, I'm running my offense through Anthony Davis. I'm just giving him the ball. No disrespect to Reaves, but I'm not going pick-and-roll with Reaves before I get him the ball in the post, personally."
Ball reiterated that Davis should have been the Lakers' primary option for the series.
"AD killed but he could have killed even more. He would be killing, get 30 by the 4th, and then he’ll have 1 shot in the 4th quarter. I don’t understand it”
In all five games, Anthony Davis had an inexplicable second-half drop-off which many attributed to coach Ham not drawing up plays for the center. Ham's playcalling was directly called out by Davis after they lost Game 2 of the series, prompting a salty response from the head coach. This interaction foreshadowed Ham's firing, as it was clear the locker room had moved on from the coach.
In my opinion, the Lakers' decision to move on from Ham was fine because he was always a limited coach. He's good enough to maximize what he can get from a roster but fails to match up tactically in playoff series against elite coaches.
When fans at home are pointing out blatant rotational and tactical flaws, it's hard to justify being in charge.
JJ Reddick Might Replace Darvin Ham
JJ Reddick has been interviewing for head coaching jobs since last summer when the Toronto Raptors interviewed him before going with Darko Rajakovic. He's since interviewed for the Charlotte Hornets as well, but Reddick might be getting the top job of the Lakers to coach his podcast co-host, LeBron James.
The Lakers are also looking at other candidates such as James Borrego and Sam Cassell, but Reddick's name is said to be in the lead so far. If James can't trust a mind like Reddick's on the court, the rumors of him not being able to function with a coach for more than a few seasons might be entirely accurate.
Reddick would be a better man-manager, provided Davis and LeBron treat him with respect. If they disagree with him and throw a fit, it'll undermine Redick's authority to the entire team. The Lakers can't afford to keep switching coaches, and Reddick would need to be a long-term solution to this problem.
Almost every available option includes assistant coaches or fired head coaches, so the Lakers aren't picking from the top of the barrel. But there is value to be found if the front office can identify the perfect coach who can work in synergy with Rob Pelinka but also LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

To be fair there were times when AD and DLO were cooking together in the playoffs and Ham went away from it. I think DLO fits well with AD but not Lebron.

😂Whenever in doubt LeBron at fault for Dlo having a 0pt game.Thats why I love Kyrie... LBJ wouldn't have to worry about Kyrie having a 0pt game and letting Jamal Murray shit on Dlo and Reaves 2yrs in a row.

Austin Reeves is not supposed to be a starter or go-to scoring option. Lakers put him in some positions because of injuries or the fact they just didn't have a bench. In his correct role AR is a big asset to any team

Call me crazy, call me whatever but Austin Reaves and D Lo suck especially in how they defend. Why? The Lakers calling this Reave one of the big three was nonsense. This guy can do one thing and that is score but he is pretty worthless on defense. Although he is 6'4.5 barefooted, and 6'5.75" with shoes he has short t rex arms with a 6'6.25" wingspan which limits his reach and contest ability on shot attempts but he doesn't have the desire, strength, attributes, and will to play gr8 defense. All he wants to do is score. People talking sh*t about Bronny ain't this or that. I am taking him right now over Austin Reaves and D Lo any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Bronny might not be as tall barefooted right now measuring 6'1.50" but 6'3.25 with shoes on and a 6'7.25" wingspan which is a full inch longer than Austin Reaves. However, what Bronny doesn't bring you on offense he more than makes up for it on defense. Bruh, Bronny would defended Murray ten times better than Reaves and D Lo. Anyway, people can play stupid and crazy all they want but this kid is getting drafted and unless the Lakers make a move up in the early part of 2nd round Bronny will not be on the board for the Lakers to take him in the draft. Anyway, the Lakers didn't need offense from either of those two knuckleheads as much as they needed them to be great defenders. You know cliche "defense wins championships". The Lakers lost because they could not overcome the defensive deficiencies of Reave and DLo and it was as simple as that.

Lakers main reason for losing was defense. 2020 roster did not have 3pt snipers. They had players who were hungry and knew how to play the game. How many times in the history of the nba do we blame the 4th best player for losing. This roster was good enough to go to a game 7 but coaching plays a part in that

But Lonzo ball aint the dude to be trying to have commentary about this. Still salty because lebron traded his ass . He took a shoot a shot at 39yr old lebron getting back picked in this video as well 🤣
