As a Korean, I really really hope to Hyundai join Endurance. In Korea, most people are lukewarm of motorsport. And there are almost NONE of motorsport related infrastructures. I think this entry would hype the motorsport to Korean and make infrastructures fertile. Even if I would continue to support Ferrari....😂 I really really support Hyundai's entry for that reason.

The one problem I see though with Hyundai entering a LMDh car is not so much on Hyundai themselves but the WEC. They’d be able to enter in a car no problem for IMSA, but the WEC has put the rule for next year that each manufacturer would have to run 2 cars per team (I think excluding the privateer entries) which would make it hard in the long run for any new manufacturers to enter. 2 Toyotas, 2 Ferraris, 2 Peugeots, 2 Porsches, 2 Alpines, 2 BMWs, and then 2025 2 Cadillacs, 2 Lamborghinis, and Isotta Fraschini will have 2 entries most likely, add Aston Martin with 2 entries, that’s already 20 cars without the privateer Hypercar entries. Ya already got 20 cars in LMGT3 with the same 2 cars per manufacturer basis. WEC wants to have the field at 40 cars max, the grid’s full. We got Hyundai close to a possible LMDh entry, ya got McLaren rumored for an entry, Vanwall to come back to WEC, any possible future LMH and LMDh entries, not to mention Audi and Mercedes want in into LMGT3, THERES NO ROOM. There’s legitimately no room! Privateer entries r gonna have to be kicked out of Hypercar and go to either IMSA or the possible AsLMS Hypercar class if that does happen. The FIA and ACO just didn’t plan long term for how many manufacturers came in all at once. I like that new manufacturers r coming into Hypercar and/or GTP but it’s like the hell r we gonna do if we can’t even fit any of these new manufacturers?

Thanks FJ. So why do you think more manufacturers are choosing LMDH over LMH (except Aston Martin)? The LMH cars seem to have better results at Le Mans..
@Alan-ww8vi
@Alan-ww8vi 12 күн бұрын
Most likely because the barrier for entry in LMDH is lower, with more standardised parts, so it's more appealing for manufacturers with limited technical resources, budget, or both. That, and in theory they are supposed to be as competitive as LMH. We saw the Cadillacs and Porsches do very well in this years Le Mans and they both had a car in the running for an outright win until around the last 3 hours. It was the first outing for the other LMDHs in this year's Le Mans so it's hard to use them to compare LMH vs LMDH.

It would be nice for Mercedes AMG to reconsider their racing programs, with emphasis on endurance and reliability rather than pure speed as F1 operate. With experience in customer GT3 racing in IMSA, it would be better for LMH and LMDh to have one thing: MGU-H on turbochargers for more efficient energy recovery and less turbo lag, as we saw Porsche uses such in t-hybrid track focused performance hybrid system on 992.2 Carrera/Targa 4 GTS. Then if Alpine and some unreliable ones being pulled the plug, why not Mercedes AMG to reconsider joining sports car racing as a works team again so that next gen AMG One would be a sports prototype matching LMH reg?
