Here’s info that couldn’t fit in the video. Both also have rear lockers, Frontier has more interior room (width and headroom)+better daily ride quality. Toyota is better off-road (due to slightly longer suspension travel and better Fox shocks). Both have a 21 gallon fuel tanks. Tacoma get 18city/22HWY and Frontier gets 18city/24hwy.

Not really. Dealer add-ons are largely staying but market adjustments are not. Unfortunately while it’s completely possible for it to reach 300,000 miles it likely won’t as you have more start stop cycles then the ones that were pushed to 300k miles when they were 3-5 years old. Meaning the engine has spent more running time cold and since it’s 20 years old the seals and gaskets will likely not age as well as the other parts of the engine

I'd go with the Frontier. Sitting in a 3rd gen Tacoma feels somewhere between being in the cockpit of a tank with the hatch down and sitting 3 inches of the floor of a muscle car while doing some weird yoga where your knees are 6 inches about your hips. I don't know how anybody ever gets used to that. That is the reason I went with the PRO4X instead of the TRD Offroad. Also while both these trucks have the big flat / raised hoods that are so trendy these days (I have no idea what they are thinking) visibility on the 3rd Gen Frontier (while no where near as good as 2nd Gen when the hood sloped down) is better.

Survey says.... If you can afford the Tacoma get the taco. If you're looking for something similar at a slightly cheaper price get the frontier. I think both will handle comparable and last a decent amount time. Obviously the Tacoma will hold value so if your going to baby the truck the Tacoma will get you more payout. I've had two new tacos. The first one was built better but had an engine issue right at 60k. The new one I got is built in Mexico and isn't the same quality, I will most likely trade it in at some point. Honestly most reliable is the 4runner. But if you need a midsize truck go for taco, frontier or Ridgeline. GM is ok but will have issues..I had the new sierra, it was nice but no good for long-term use. Most of these trucks are 100k miles. Taco will go the distance but won't be comfortable. But these are your options nowadays. Choose wisely

@@DieselDog1982 not really considering it was off roaded frequenlty. Axles were only replaced because of torn boots. The boots on their own OEM were only $40 less than new axles. Bushings were $90 and the most expensive of it all was the suspension which ran approx $2500. Clutch was replaced under warranty at 100,000km and the new clutch lasted 206,000km towing a 3500lb trailer for 6 years. I'd say best overall cost in maintenance over the 12 years I owned the truck.
