There are some stunning views on this flight down the center of South Florida just after Sunrise. I'll narrate the start sequence, and I've added some different camera views / inlays on this flight. Right seat is open, so enjoy the flight!

Hello Captain! Many thanks for this awesome video. I flew as a private pilot for many years, and only once did I have the privilege of flying this route, Fort-Lauderdale Exec to Key West. It is really a beautiful flight, I had two good friends on-board with me, it was in a Cessna 182, and that was back in the mid 90s. I was flying VFR at the time with nothing more for nav-aid instruments than 2 VORs and one ADF, no auto-pilot! Subsequently after retiring from piloting, I did fly that route again using the FSX flight simulator, many times in Citations and also Lear Jets. So your video threw my back to many pleasant memories and awesome scenery! Thanks for sharing! Ron Montreal, Canada

Unfortunately I was in a car accident just prior to taking my private pilot test and physically couldn’t do it. Then life happened and I got married had children and couldn’t afford to go back to it. I find solace in watching flight videos and enjoy anytime I get to fly commercially now. But I always wanted to go back to it. Keep the videos coming, love them.

The first video I’ve watched on this channel. A delight to see a solo pilot operating a CJ3+, using checklists, briefing a flight plan, and dealing with radios and ATC in a busy airspace, along with beautiful views over the Florida Keys. Contrast that with the videos on KZfaq about the last flight of Learjet N452DA, which show how to completely screw up all those things. As a non-pilot, I’ve watched those, but now it’s good to see how things are done professionally.

Been to Key West many times. Only flown in and out of the Keys one time. That was on an American Eagle connection flight out of Miami to Marathon. That was in the mid 1990s. I haven’t been to Key West now in 20 years. It’s about a 17 hr drive from my house and I’m not as young as I used to be. I can’t handle them long drives like I used to could. I’ve made the drive from Hollywood down to Key West many times. Which is basically the same as the flight you took. If I remember right I took 5 to 7 hours to drive, what took you 30 minutes to fly. Just found your channel. I’ll have to take a look at what else you have. Have a good day.

@@AccidentalAviator 6/11/24..thx for yur response; talk about tech change! Wow! FFA taxi & placement of 'next' Departure a/c on 'Active R/W >before< (very) short a/c on Final has landed!!! Then other Tower problems: taxi way-Active R/W over crowding issues events...back in 't-day' nobody allowed on R/W until arrival (safely) landed & rolling away or Departure had 'rotated'.. but ' overcrowding' has caused several 'panic' (voice) Tower command 'reversals/cancilations' due to last minute realizations of conflict...JFK incident while back. @@jamescole1786 Yeah, I learned to fly starting in the mid 80's before all the fancy avionics, and I'm kind of glad I did. One of the planes I flew in the late 80s had a LORAN and I thought it was the greatest thing ever! Avionics have made the skies a lot safer, but when those things break, some pilots don't seem to know what to do with themselves. That, and as you have said, the skies are getting very crowded. It's crazy how much busier south Florida airports have gotten. You controllers do an amazing job!

We flew once on Cape Air from FLL to EYW and it was glorious to see the water the entire flight (I think there were about 20 passengers on this flight and are cruising altitude was like 18,000 feet (from what I remember). Better than driving there, but our last visit to Key West was way back in 2005 when we were on a cruise ship and the last port was Mallory Square in Key West. Would like to visit again, but agreed that it's very "touristy" now. Loved the video and with all that radio chatter, I don't know how you can tell when the towers are speaking to YOU about your flight.

It is definitely very touristy, but a place that you have to visit at least once, and maybe a few times. Mallory square is great and there are a lot of amazing museums. I'd crank them out quicker if I could, but unfortunately I have a full-time job on top of the flying & editing! The editing portion of it (pairing it down from an hour to 30 minutes) is what takes the bulk of the time. Adding the insets and location markers is fairly easy. So, making it look pretty is actually the easier part of the process! I have about 3-4 more videos waiting to be editing, and I'll have a great series of videos coming in the fall.
