Another boat trip to Fort Myers beach in SW Florida with our Regal XO! We travel from the miserable mile in Cape Coral to drop anchor right on the beach with some friends in front of the new Margaritaville Beach Resort and Lani Kai hotel. We also check out a new boat that is also called an XO Explorer made in Scandinavia with an aluminum hull! Thanks for the tour and good luck with it captain Rob!
The water is cold by Florida standards and I step on a rusty nail! Fun times!

Looks like you guys are really enjoying the Regal. Perfect for those day trips to get close to shore with some speed and comfort. Two great boats now with a lot of flexibility.

Another great video! I’ve been working on ripping the pontoon apart all the way down to, well, the pontoons! Can’t wait to get her out on the water before too long. I like when we anchor near the beach as well. A different perspective on the beach! Good job!

Someone down the canal from me had an Axopar. I think the windshield was broken in the hurricane, and after that the boat disappeared. It was neat to see, although probably not an ideal boat for the area - more for colder climates.

Are you behind the Chiquita lock by chance? I’m looking to buy a 26 XO this year and am wondering if it’ll be able to cut across the bay from Rumrunners to the channel in the river (the short cut instead of taking the longer shore route). I can take my jetboat across easily as it has a 19” draft and it saves time getting out to the islands. Any insight is appreciated. Enjoying the videos!
@AdventuresofHappyOurs
@AdventuresofHappyOurs 4 ай бұрын
We don’t have to go through Chaquita lock but we do come out the SW channel by Tarpon Point. I try to avoid the short cut along the mangroves at really low tides but we go straight out most the time to the Island along the miserable mile there with no problem. I trim the drive up when depth shows under 3.5 feet to be safe.

Yes we have been using the Regal to go out more often. Mostly day trips. The longer jaunts will still be the Meridian. We have a couple outings for Happy Ours this week for Christmas boat parades.

Is the miserable mile a manatee zone?
@AdventuresofHappyOurs
@AdventuresofHappyOurs 5 ай бұрын
Yes. That’s part of the reason for the slow speed. The other being the narrow channels and massive number of boats. Would be chaos with no speed limit.
@richardjohnson8114
@richardjohnson8114 4 ай бұрын
@@AdventuresofHappyOurs Actually, no offense, but that's not the "miserable mile". The Manatee Zone is the "Shell Island Cut" The Miserable Mile is a full speed zone starting at marker 101 and heading southwest past picnic island. It is technically the beginning of the Intercoastal and was named the Miserable Mile by sailors because it is a narrow dredged channel that has strong cross currents making it very difficult on sailboats with large keels. Care and attention is required during the transit because a sailboat can easily drift out of the channel and run aground. Most power boaters refer to the Shell Island Cut as the Miserable Mile because of the no wake zone, but that's not the real MM.
@AdventuresofHappyOurs
@AdventuresofHappyOurs 4 ай бұрын
@richardjohnson8114 yes I learned that not too long ago. Nearly everyone here calls the slow zone the miserable mile. Apparently, some old charts do indicate the narrow portion you mention as the miserable mile.

Thanks for the clarification. My only concern was for people down here is to be careful in and around the water. There have been too many tragic event’s from minor incidents like your’s since that damn hurricane. Still love your channel! From a fellow Aussie owner… Maty rocks!

Yes I’ve heard of debris issues but of all the times I’ve been there after the storm (6or so times)none of us ever stepped on anything. I thought it was a crab first as it would get off my foot when kicking it. I didn’t realize it was a nail puncture until I got in the boat. I wish I had picked it up. We anchor in that exact spot every time !
