Over 3 years later, I'd really like to hear your opinion on today's market. I suggest reviewing these in the not cheap but not crazy expensive category: Racer High speed RS-Taichi GP EVO Five RFX1 All three seem to be a good blend of feel and protection, although they won't work all year in Canada.

I own the Alpinestars GP plus, and i must say, if you find the right fit, it's an awesome glove, beast protection, and awesome feedback from your commands. I have mine since a year, over 10 000 miles and almost no wear visible (except on palm, but still dont know if i rubbed something or if it's just wear from mileage). And even though i own a good pair of furygan winter gloves, i still find myself wearing the gp plus 95% of the time since they give me so much feedback and precision.

This review sold me on having the Knox scaphoid protection system sliders on my street gloves, as did the Knox video. I couldn't find the 5 gloves and I also wanted short cuff MX style gloves, since I was used to MX cuff gloves. I found the Scorpion EXO SGS Mk II gloves. I wanted to try them on, definitely when spending $90+ on them. I did and they are working in great. Breaking in nicely. I now have no problem with spending the money, it was worth it. Biggest factor - trying on the gloves to make sure which size was best fit. This video did it.

SO MUCH ALPINESTARS which is funny because their reviews aren't always that great they often lose out to other companies in the review section. Not even a single meantion of Rev'it, Dianese, Icon, Held, Scorpion who all produce some heavy hitting gloves that get 4.5-5 star reviews even after 100's of reviewers put in their 2 cents.

Should have included the Knox Handroid. They're top of the line in racing gloves. a lot of features and design set you above the rest . I went down and luckily I had those on. Dispite the fact, they still look new and the kangaroo palm looks no different than wet leather. highly recommended

Have to agree Knox by far a better alternative than those on test here, I have a pair and wouldn't use anything else and have proper palm sliders which won't cause your hands to rotate when in contact with the ground unlike leather which has too much friction and results in break's, I know I was that man.

isn't Celer like 3 years or so old now? I was hoping AStars to update this model as well but currently I'm tossing between Celer and SMX-2 Air Carbon V2... I like the SMX-2, but I just wished SMX had more vibration dampening stuff on the palm for my buzzy FZ-07
@nougiw26
@nougiw26 6 жыл бұрын
try RFX1(the 1st gen, not the current model) and no other glove is going to fit as good ever again. I was told so too, but there is a difference between hearing it and seeing it in first person. When I tried it on I finally understood after 33 years of being around, why there is such an expression as: it fits like a glove. Maybe the current model has also such a good fit, but I can't guarantee it as I haven't put it on yet. Also it seems to be modeled after RFX Race, which is far more technical, but does not fit as good as RFX1 gen1 though...
@busansanai
@busansanai 7 жыл бұрын
As Torontonian FZ-07 rider, I want something that's highly ventilating for the humid summer riding, still have the decent armoring, shorty for easy on-off, and have cushions on the palm to dampen the vibration of the buzzy parallel-twin. Preferably also have touch screen fingers for my phone GPS use... In your opinion, which do you think would be a best buy: Alpinestars Celer, ICON Pursuit touchscreen (from your other video), or a cheapest option: ICON 29er. I like how AStars has the pinkie bridge, but ICON's price seems more friendly....
@FortNine

If I were you, I'd take the Icon Pursuit Touchscreen. Or maybe even the Z1R 270 (knock-off of the Pursuit) and save my money for something else. I talk a lot about the Z1R 270 here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bb-GY7irsZycn4k.html ~RyanF9

@FortNine
@FortNine 7 жыл бұрын
Oh really? The GPX is definitely worth more than the Celer, so it would be a better "deal" to choose the GPX. Basically the GPX is more protective while the Celer is lighter and more comfortable. It really depends what you're looking for, but if I could get both gloves for the same price, I'd choose the GPX. The extra wrist protection is worth it to me. ~RyanF9

Sport & Racing gloves: you just don't put the Celer in that review. They are street gloves and maybe good for supermoto (although I prefer the full protection of a full gauntlet). Where are Dainese's Full Metal? Where are GP Pro/GP Tech? Where is Rev'It Jerez? Where are Held Phantom II? Maybe the title of the video should be: Best sport & racing motorcycle gloves that I have in my cupboard

Your choice of "best" sport & racing gloves surprises me, and not in a good way. There are so many other racing gloves out there that wipe the floor with the gloves in this video (at a similar price point too). Yes, it's from 2016, but back then there were some killer gloves achieving Level 1 in the 13594 CE normative testing day in and day out. You said they're your favorite, so maybe the video is geared more towards the best sport & racing gloves for you? Anyway, great video aside from that!

Bought the gp+ one year ago, 22 000km, no crash, never hit the road with the gloves, only handlebar, and there's a hole in the palm, my skin is visible :s
@MotorcycleGearHub
@MotorcycleGearHub 6 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that. As much as I love Alpinestars, only the GP Pro (R2) and above are worth getting as gauntlet racing gloves. A hole in the palm is a serious issue. Medium0end gloves as mentioned in this video only last a season; they also usually only crash once. If you want some suggestions on good gauntlet gloves for a decent price, then feel free to let me know (I'm not affiliated with FortNine; I'm just a gear geek and reviewer).

Motorcycle Gear Hub best 4 season jacket??
@MotorcycleGearHub
@MotorcycleGearHub 6 жыл бұрын
If budget is unlimited, then the Clover Road WP, or, even better yet, the Clover Tekno WP (latter is discontinued but can be purchased second hand if you know where to look). If limited to a budget, then there are many excellent 4-season jackets out there meeting differing price points. For example, check out the ON BOARD Stone 4S jacket, which we've reviewed on our channel and website. Look for nylon or polyamide either making up the chassis of the jacket or, at least, the reinforced areas (e.g. elbows and/or shoulders). Do also look for waterproof vented zippers or removable air-vent flaps instead of uncovered perforated mesh. Hope that helps.

Motorcycle Gear Hub u sir are well informed any opinions on the dainese air flux d1??
@MotorcycleGearHub
@MotorcycleGearHub 6 жыл бұрын
That jacket is only good for summer. If you want to extend seasonality, then use your own base layers or go with something like Dainese's Air Frame D1 jacket as it has a removable windproof (NOT insulating though) liner if what you want is to stay Dainese and affordable.

Cow has better abrasion resistance than goat. Goat is just cheaper than cow, so it's saving the manufacturer, not you. What is this myth of only really protective gloves on the track? Does my hand need to slide differently when I crash on the road, or when a cager takes me down? Your best street/tour gloves, none have a single good palm or side of the hand slider / protection. Max protection is important across the board.
