Mamlambo Fossils

2 ай бұрын

I travelled to Wellington to talk about some of my favourite fossils, how I found them, and how I ended up prepping them. A huge thank you to Poppy and the team at Te Papa for allowing me to come and talk fossils, I had so much fun!
In this talk I show some fossil shark teeth, a penguin, crabs, plesiosaur bones and much more!

SO COOL to learn a bit more behind the scenes - this was a great talk. Your channel inspired me to look for fossils in my local beach, and I've now found several partial samples of "scutellaster interlineatus" - basically a sand dollar that lived 1-2 million years ago here in California. Thank you for sparking a new interest

This was an amazing presentation. I’ve learned so much from watching your videos. When I was much younger, I found a weird rock that looked as though something was inside, so I’ve kept it and taken it with me all over the world hoping that one day I’d find out what is hidden inside. You inspire me! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and your experiences with us all.

As some one that's been with you since early days... this was awesome! I was teaching a unit on evolution by using penguins as our "hook" or guiding question... at the same time you finally found one... all my students were fascinated by your fossil finding and prepping! Cheers and all the best!

Hello Morne, Great to be able to follow your lecture this way! Thank you so much! It's so inspiring to see you expanding your knowledge. And now back to school! I hope that in addition to your studies you will still have enough time to continue looking for fossils and to share it with your audience. You have already made fantastic finds! The Toothed bird, the turtle skull and the penguin appeal to the imagination. It also inspires me to remain active in fossil hunting. Good luck with your studie and your new hobby home!

Thank you for sharing this amazing presentation! You mentioned the North American dinosaurs, and I just watched this week, there is a series on PBS covering theories about why the dinosaurs were primarily in North America. If you can’t get the series, there may be clips on YT. Again, you gave a wonderful presentation, looking forward to more finds.

Feel like watching it twice, never gets boring to me, love the way you presented everything, a bit jeaulous at the fact at how great you are at preparing fossils, but I know that if I try hard enough, I will reach that level as well. Just going to take a while. Also getting smth ready to send, as you might have read on one of the post cards, along with some information. Since there are some changes in export and import on may 1st.

Morne, this is what I’ve always imagined you doing! Your presentation was perfect mate, as are your fossil preps. I see you doing many more of these talks and maybe a job at the museum, when it’s your time and if you’re interested in doing so. Good luck to you in your future endeavors. Love the work you’re doing with the children and the ingenious card game you’ve created. This may give many a child an interest in fossils and may also plant a seed in their minds for their future in Paleontology. Your U.S., friend, Lizzy. 🤓☺️🫶🏽
