I'll never forget the first day. Lucas was immediately right up in there having fun and looked like a natural fit. Savanah was clearly shy and nervous and the way the girls took care of her was so beautiful. I believe were it not for that she might have had a very difficult time. You can tell she really loves the heck out of everyone. I also thought it was special that he confided in Alex that first day. Fitting because Alex is pretty much the leader and somewhat caretaker of his sibblings.

I noticed how comfortable and relaxed Savannah and Lucas seem in this video. It's almost like a weight was lifted off their shoulders when they finally became Pettits. Congratulations to all of you and God bless!

I caught Savanah's age on a video the other day and I was so shocked that she's so young. She is so wise and mature! It is very impressive but also breaks my heart that she's had to grow up so fast being in foster care! ❤ She seems like a very lovely young woman and Lucas also seems very mature and like a great young man!!

That's why I love that crystal always tells the kiddos if they are being pulled out of school early cause I know it scares them. She always makes sure they are ok and that they know what's going on!

Alex broke my heart when he said they were happy to have a home as they moved around so much! They are blessed to have each other and you guys as well! Congrats, Lucas and Savannah! Welcome to your forever family. I'm a 66 year old adoptee from Canada. I was never in the foster care system for an extended period . I came to my forever family right away. My parents raised me to be a kind, loving person. My advice is to be as kind as you are able to be. Love your family.

Precious kiddos, take your time in sharing your story as it is yours to share on your own timeline. Take your time to heal, settle in, get comfortable, and just work on you for a while. I am so happy for you both to have a stable place to call home. However, it's ok for you to feel like you are not lucky or blessed because you didn't deserve to have your family torn apart and it's ok to grieve that. Adoption is such a great mixture of love and loss. You can't have the institution of adoption without loss and it's ok to grieve your loss. Take care beautiful children.
