I relate to these vids. Was born in Florida but grew up in Mystic (Navy Brat). Fished Montauk, the Race, Fishers Island Sound, Watch Hill, etc. and still love to do it even though now I live in Tampa Bay and fish for Tarpon, Redfish, Snook, etc. Especially miss that cool ocean air in New England.

@@FishAholicTV We used to start catching the schoolie stripers at the reef off of Stonington in the first to second week of April when that shitty winter weather has mostly left. The fall fishing for monsters is great too.

Great video once again. It looked pretty tough finding the fish, but you didn't get skunked. The Sailfish boat was laid out really nice, loved the padding around the gunwale so you could lean into fish. You had some cool shots of the area as always. Thanks for sharing and letting us ride along!

Use to go Montauk with me wife (when I lived in the Bronx) to the light house at night, and every time the fishing was epic. Fish for purges during the day!

Nice, sounds like a good time!! Before I lived out there an before I could drive. My dad and I would go out today and camp in the truck for a week or two. Save money and get a hotel maybe for one of the nights. We would fish night and day so it was just better the camp in the truck so we could roll out of bed and be into fish.

Hahaha yeah that would be a good place for it. Recently hooked a Marlin on my boat and chased it for 1 hr and 6nm miles on top of the 20nm I was already offshore. Then of course the seas kicked up and the wind went from from 5mph to 15/20 at the end of the fight. It was a little sporty getting back lol.

@@FishAholicTV Nice. I’m in Stuart. I know those sudden changes in conditions all to well. Originally from CT. Had hooks out In Montauk back in the day when you could slay yellow fin at the 30 line. I’m hearing it’s now canyon or bust and pretty much hit/miss, mostly miss. Our guys hooked a monster sword out there. Lost him at the back of the boat. Just not enough fishermen onboard that night. 53’ Hatteras and he measured out the transom! Record fish for sure. I caught a 160 lb Big Eye on a stand-up thirty! Short an eighty so of course he hits the one thirty closest to the boat lol. Striped bass on the rips all day. You know, good memories.

The island closest to the bridge is Hoffman Island. Good fluke area as well. Swinburne is the island to the south.

Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit kzfaq.infoUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

It was late in the season to get a lot of the big Bass where we were at. We were all hoping for it to be more of an offshore trip. But we made the most of it. Montauk and block island has been stacked from what my buddies have told me. So Next month 🤙🏻. Might head up to Mass as well. I want to hit some areas from the surf I haven’t fished before.
