I guess my take away is: use the Cover Effects gripping primer (!) and it's best if you have dryish skin. I can do that, I don't remember the price of this Laura Mercier foundation, but I do know it's expensive. Sometimes I do not think the younger beauty you tube beauty gurus (without the vagaries of age) understand how difficult it gets when age, wrinkles, etc. come into the picture. Foundation settles into lines and wrinkles and exaggerates pores... and powder can make everything a cakey mess that only adds 20 more+ years! This is why I (we) are so LUCKY to have you do your thorough Foundation Fridays! Can't thank you enough, but I will, once again, THANKS ANGIE!

The young ones are sure going to have a surprise when menopause hits too!😂 When acne returns, when your skin turn into a dry landscape with cracks, or an oil pit, and you wake up one morning to see your whole face have dropped an inch since yesterday because elastin and collagen suddenly went for a walkabout. 😂

Angie, you truly set the standard by which all other reviewers/influencers should be judged on their reviews of foundation! Some of them, mentioning no names(!), never ever do any close ups, let alone to the extent that you do, so it’s honestly hard to believe a word they say! Never change, you are amazing!

Is it me or are companies just churning out products double time these days? If it weren’t for you donning your hip waders to take on the sea of Sephora/Ulta stuff I would quite possibly have stopped wearing makeup. So thanks for simplifying “good candidates from not so good” for all our different maturing skin types. Ain’t nobody want to see me without a bit of make up on lol.

This might be good for someone who's older than you are (someone like me), because I rather suddenly need more emollients in my foundation. I'm finding that long wear is not as important when you're retired.

Ah..yes..nice to not have to worry about 12 hours later!! But would still love to look good for myself throughout the day..NOW if there was something to be done with neck and jowls I'm sold...not horrible but still there at 65...damn...

I love your videos. They are very helpful. I am 56 and I notice that settling in my pores etc. I also like how you demonstrate using primers and finishing powders. Thank you! Almost 40, with skin that leans dry as it is....and started Tretinoin a few weeks ago. No peeling but I am even more dry than normal. Have some fine lines and all the things you have at 40 that you dont have at 22. lol I was looking at this foundation and saw this review. As it turns out this is working out great! I love that you are so descriptive about the parts of it that you like for your skin and the parts that you think would work better for other skin types. It doesnt settle into my lines, it doesnt dry me out. Since my whole face is currently dry with some normal bits this is really beautiful! Just wanted to come back and say thanks and let others know that it really does play nicely with more dry skin. :)

Would love to see a review of Vapour Beauty products!! I love the products but I don’t do you well reading the ingredient list. I appreciated they are cruelty free. They seem to do well on my skin and I’m 65.

The reason your foundation is light and ghostly looking with both flash test is because your sunscreen has zinc and titanium in it. Those are physical sunblocks so it bounces light back. So your going to get that ghostly light look with any foundation you put over it. Also, the hourglass mineral veil primer also has zinc and titanium in it as well.

Thanks for reviewing a foundation better suited to dry skin. The dewy foundations tend to dry down matte on my dry skin. Most foundations end up looking flaky and gross on me after a few hours, even after tons of moisturizer. I've never seen transfer to my phone with any foundation. I hope it won't get worse after menopause :(

This review makes me wonder if this Laura Mercier foundation is similar to my holy grail, the Lancôme Renergie Lift makeup. I love how softly dewy the Lancôme is, no settling into pores (I have major large pores) and it looks so much like skin that most folks can’t tell I’m wearing foundation! Cons are that it’s only light coverage and lasts about 6-8 hrs with powder setting and spray...but the wear down is very natural and graceful so that helps. I’d love a more medium coverage foundation with the same skin-like finish, so maybe I’ll try a sample of the Laura mercier! Thanks as always for the reviews!!

Hi Catharine, I have both and think you would like the LM. It's slightly less dewy but more radiant than the Lancome. I'm normal to dry and find both have similar coverage and help to blur texture. The LM is more skin like.

Great review as usual! Such a classy lady. BTW......I think I have found a dupe for the Clinique Melting balm makeup remover that you have been using to remove makeup. Physicians Formula also has one “The Perfect Matcha” that is wonderful and cost about $14 at CVS.

Hmmmm....I’m undecided on this. The luminosity bordered on looking oily to me. I’m combo skin as well and definitely would worry about this looking oily after a few hours. I liked the look after you applied the powder though. Personally I feel that I get the same look with my Armani Luminous Silk foundation but sans any wear issues. Very informative video. It looked great on your driest parts, so this might be a great choice for us dry women! I bought the L’Oréal infallible that was a partly miss on you, and because I’m dry it was actually fantastic on me. It was everything I wanted in a foundation, and I’m thrilled. In my dry face with the Guerlain primer underneath it didn’t settle into pores or wrinkles or crack. It looked dewy and skinlike for 14 hrs. Medium coverage. So if anyone have really dry, mature skin, it can be worth a try. Angie, have you tested out any of the No7 foundations (Boots)? I saw Elle liked the foundation drops and I’m curious of the other foundations they have. I think they have 4 different foundations. Would be cool of you reviewed them. Thanks to YOU and some other mature influencers, I bought Nuface and Clarisonic yesterday. 😂😉😂So I’m planning to look 20 by the end of May. (I’m 56)😂 Fun fact: they are throwing Clarisonics in our faces here, after Clarisonic pulled out of the European marked and you can’t get brush heads for them in any store. My daughter and I bought one each. Price: 20$. (We’ve found a way to get brushheads). I call that a bargain! Thanks for a great review!

Thank you for testing this! I’ve had my eye on it for a few weeks now, and I am going to buy it tomorrow. My skin is dry, so I think it would be a hit for me- especially with the primer 😀

Thank you for the in depth review of the LM foundation! I have dry skin so I might give it a try. I thought with the primer it looked good on you but if you are like me I like a foundation that is good with just a moisturizer!! Thank you again!! xo

Omg I think the foundation looks great on you even when it was fading. Just a suggestion you might want to try a good strong setting spray. Setting sprays are an essential for me as I tend to be a little oilier.

Sad about the flash test, but other than that I thought it looked great on you. I was also really suprised, as LM has never been a big favorite of mine.

I think it’s for normal under 50 skin. This foundation wasn’t luminous or dewy at all on my 53 year old dry skin. I have tried everything on the market and I’ll still stick with my IT cosmetics CC creme or foundation paired with IT no. 50 serum primer or Chanel Vitalumiere Moisture Rich Radiance foundation for my dry 53 year old skin 😉💛

I feel I need to point out for us women who have multiple chemical sensitivity....I tried the Chanel Perfection foundation and found it to be the MOST beautiful finish of any foundation I have tried BUT the "subtle" perfume that it contains gave me a headache immediately and NEVER faded over time as the salesperson told me it would. I used it two days in a row to give it a fair shake. I even took headache meds so that I could try it again because it was such a beautiful finish. No product is worth having a migraine. Please Chanel!!!! Make an unscented version!!!!!
