An alto can definitely sing this. Well depends on your actual range, but I know a lot of altos who can absolutely nail this song even better than me, an underdeveloped soprano.

I studied voice for over 15 years, and everything she's saying is definitely legitimate and useful. Keeping the high notes light rather than pressuring your voice. But in the end, it is what your range is capable of. You need to be a real soprano, a light soprano, to sing this song. The notes she says are difficult are only difficult if you don't have the notes in your voice. She is very helpful.

Might be a bit late now but as a fellow teenage soprano with voice lessons: PLEASE be careful with your upper voice, or you may risk damaging your vocals forever. Please only do the big E6 rarely, if at all, and hydrate afterwards and eat/drink(?) some honey. And if you have a voice teacher, only attempt with his/her permission. If you damage your voice at a young age, you risk the notes you are trying to reach! Also as Freya said, relax while doing the notes Just some tips. Good luck!

Lyrics Think of me, think of me fondly When we've said goodbye Remember me, once in a while Please promise me you'll try When you find that once again you long To take your heart back and be free If you ever find a moment Spare a thought for me We never said our love was evergreen Or as unchanging as the sea But if you can still remember Stop and think of me Think of all the things We've shared and seen Don't think about the way Things might have been Think of me, think of me waking Silent and resigned Imagine me trying too hard To put you from my mind Recall those days Look back on all those times Think of the things we'll never do There will never be a day When I won't think of you Can it be, can it be Christine? Bravo! Long ago, it seems so long ago How young and innocent we were She may not remember me But I remember her Flowers fade, the fruits of summer fade They have their season so do we But please promise me that sometimes You will think of me

@annabaker9173 7 жыл бұрын
Sarvin you don't have to have years of hard practice. Natural vibrato actually comes with proper technique which you can teach yourself. It isn't that hard to find your vibrato. But your voice also has to be fully developed.
@mowesrik

I didn't know that. I developed my vibrato a few years ago and I didn't even sing regularly back then.

Anna Baker Your voice doesnt need to be fully developed to have a natural and healthy vibrado. I’m 15 and I have a natural healthy vibrato. Proper technique is very hard to get without a voice lessons teacher but it is possible. Singing is dangerous to do self taught because if you do something wrong for a very long time, it can really hurt your voice in the long term. That is why a voice lessons teacher is a lot of help.

Beautiful as always! Since you have a classical background, would it be possible for you to make some videos about classical singing? I have a huge problem with my high notes, I just can't sing them even though I'm a soprano (I can reach them tho, so I know they are there, but when I try to sing them I sound like a dying cat) and I've been training almost for 5 years. Also, how to sing coloratura and trills? And I would love a "How to sing that song" from an actual opera aria. Something easy like Voi che sapete or Vedrai carino. :)
@junobrosas
@junobrosas 6 жыл бұрын
Coloratura is one of the Fach categories for sopranos and while trying other techniques can be beneficial, you can't expect to just become one. Same goes for other categories. For the most part, it's a natural thing, it's not very likely to become one voice part just because you want it. But I agree, more classical videos would be great! And good luck with those high notes!

Since she can sing he high notes and I can sing everything else she plays and sings Christine and Carlotta. Then she has me sing Madame Giry, Meg Giry, Piangi, the managers, Erik, and Raoul. I have been working on hitting the higher notes on my own but it is so bad. They need to make the whole show possible for Altos.

Audra Horton I absolutely agree with you on this. Musical are mostly for girls soprano and mezzo a rare few in alto. But adele, whitney are alto. I like there songs. But musical is my life so i rather sing musicals. Its sad that looking for musical karaoke/instrumental is hard to find. Especially think of me or phantom of the opera. Because i saw a low key on that. Still it was high.

"Phantom of the Opera" debuted in 1986, the year I started at Carnegie-Mellon for Music Theatre, one of the top schools in the world for professional music theatre, eventually transitioning into theatrical sound design. In the 1980s, most musical theatre performers did not customarily use close-miked amplification. On top of that, Sarah Brightman was undergoing intensive operatic vocal training at the time specifically in preparation for this role, which was written specifically for her by her husband, composer Andrew Lloyd Weber. The role is absolutely intended to be sung with a fully operatic vocal style, as the play is set in the Théâtre National de l'Opéra (as it would have been known in 1881, the year in which the play is set), colloquially known as the Paris Opera. One could say that within the specific context of the play, the beginning of the song actually takes place in rehearsals of the fictional opera "Hannibal", then transitions to the actual performance of the opera, so in the play, there is intended to be a palpable difference between a simpler vocal style the beginning of the song and a more mature and robust style by the midpoint to the end of the song, as it represents Christine's "blossoming", but to approach the song as if one expects to be close-miked and amplified from the very beginning is, in my opinion, a mistake. This historical context of the play demands that it be fully voiced.

This is very helpful. The last show I did was Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat. Before that show I thought I was a mezzo. It was community musical theater so we had only two high sopranos in the ensemble. There were some high A's in the score and I learned that I could sing them easily. As a matter of fact I learned that the highest notes were the most beautiful in my range. So now singing a high b is coming very naturally. It takes practice. Now, I routinely sing above my highest singable voice in exercises to make sure I'm explaining my vocal range. Thank you. I find your tutorials very good.

SongRainbows I’m not a voice teacher haha but when I sing it I always think of like a wah or ha. I’m pretty sure it’s how Sierra Boggess does it as well. Adding the H or W, without actually fully voicing it, allows the note to come out more controlled yet free and open at the same time. But definitely sing it with an ah shape, it’s much easier and it’s more pleasing to the ear! I hope this helps!!

could you do Poor Fool He Makes Me Laugh? I love that song, Carlotta is totally my fave character from POTO, but I find it really hard to sing her songs.

The sound you describe as an open 'a' is known in English as 'the phonetic symbol 'schwa'. It is how we teach foreign learners to pronounce mother, brother, practical, property. Look them up in a dictionary to find the schwa symbol. It looks like an upside down 'e'.

No clue how I got here, but omg this is so helpful! Other than knowing I'm a soprano, my technical knowledge is nowhere to be found! So these videos are gonna help so much in building my confidence as well 😄 Does anyone know if there's one for "Phantom of the Opera"?

I don’t have proper breathing control and I end up running out of breath in the middle of a part. Mostly when I’m about to hit a highnote Edit: I’m kinda getting the hang of it. I tend to push more air out when the highnote comes

I'm a singer, too. But I have no experience in singing live in front of people. And my voice is really scratchy when I try to sing Opera.
