Four phases of parallel turn with key points, simple video training. For better understanding first watch this. • Ski like a pro, fine t...
Ski instructor Iris, camera miromiro with gopro.
Ski resort: Lech am Arlberg
Ski: Volkl Racetiger sl
Ski boot: head raptor 130
Take in mind that whole explanation is more complex and in video are only key points to focus on. I wanted that focus stays on few things so its easy to concentrate. Thanks for watching.

Thanks so much for uploading these videos. I've watched so unbelievably freaking many ski videos on the internet and these are the easiest to understand and most helpful I have ever found. I started skiing later in life and last year worked really hard on some of the things you taught me on these videos. I improved so much so that I'm now carving, even if I'm not getting as deep into the carve as I want yet. Was sooo fun! Can't believe I now look forward to cold weather. I already can't wait to try the crossing ski exercise you posted a few days ago. ...so, thank you thank you for sharing your passion and knowledge with us.

Thanks so much for making this great tutorial video. The steps of a right parallel turn are demonstrated so well in the way you show to us, that I realized just right after quite a lot of my easy errors, sticked with me since then from my early snow vacation without any coaching. I am still keeping watch this quite often to seek poinsts, which I did not transfer into my turning, to get my movement a bit smoother.

This is a very useful video. It hits home for me as this is how I learned how to ski and how I taught as well. I have more recently become a "fan" of the ski techniques of Paul Lorenz. Paul's technique is different in one aspect in particular, unweighting. What you will notice in his technique is how the unweighting (lifting or popping) is virtually eliminated. His upper body movement is very subtle while his lower body is very active, in particular the leg extensions. Both your video and Lorenz's video emphasize the role of separating the upper and lower body. Different approaches but the same result.

This is basic parallel, more dinamic can be that what you say and there is no high low, but on base lower and just strech pivot edge and pull rolling flat and strech legs aganin. Importat is to know every tipe of turn you use depends of steepnes and speed, style. So important is to know there are 2 different techniqes for turning.

@russianwolfhound1

@@tomjohnson3004 Yes, this video would certainly cause Harald Harb's blood pressure to instantly burst. There's certainly some serious up-unweighting going on here, too. I'm not sure if it's exaggerated for the purpose of this demo or not... I think what you're perhaps missing is that there are different methodologies for teaching skiing. Clearly, the instructor in this video is from the PSIA side of the ski instruction world, where up-unweighting is featured. From the perspective of the PSIA camp, she is offering a good demo on what they consider to be key elements of the parallel turn. In contrast, Harald Harb's PMTS (Primary Movements System Teaching) system would dispense with up-unweighting altogether, and focus on some of their core elements such as the Phantom Turn. At the risk of inciting a PSIA vs PMTS free-for-all, I'll just politely excuse myself.

I judge this to be a "basic" parallel turn as the turns are initiated with an extension?

Great style. I want to learn those slow and stylish turns but I feel like I'm doing it on not enough speed. I know how to carve so when I try to ski faster then those short turns like on this video doesn't go off but instead I start to carve for some reason or just slide off too much. What may be the case? Speed?
@miromiro
@miromiro 3 жыл бұрын
you put to much ski on edge to early, and you apply to much pressure to early, at first release pressure and turn both feet active wait till fall line or bit more, and then smooth edge and pressure. here is speed not as important as in carve skiing. If you slide off maybe you sit back a bit too.

Love your video’s, went to St Moritz last summer and recognised Some parts in one of the other video’s ☺️. Question on the steering part in thuis one. I guess you do not mean pivoting as i see no skidding. Is Steering meant as allowing gravity pull the skiër info the fall line, and controlling the pressure with the new outside ski edge , and lowering position? Thans in advance, Dieter
@miromiro
@miromiro 3 жыл бұрын
So we steer to turn more then what is ski radius, yes its feet pivoting but skidding goes on tail part of ski, and then edge and down. Pivoting and steering is with low pressure and when we put ski on edge then press forward and down. If you have more speed then you can use g force to put ski on edge before fallline. Its more dynimic turn then.
@miromiro
@miromiro 3 жыл бұрын
It is gravity and pivot together if you know what i mean.

Sorry, but I have to disagree on a couple points. An effective transition is a low one and we need to be extending, not bending towards the apex.
