As a 2015 Hilux owner this pleases me. You guys in 'straya are so lucky your conditions aren't as harsh as here in the UK. Every Australian vehicle I've seen like this, year for year, has way less corrosion than in the UK. No matter what you drive here, within 2 or 3 years you'll have the start of corrosion underneath and it needs attention to stop it quick. I've been under 2 year old Rangers and Navaras with rust showing on brake covers and chassis members. Not serious rust but it never gets better on its own. 100 series Land Cruisers in the UK are so often badly corroded underneath yet in Australia they seem to last forever! It's a curse of never being more than 100 miles from the sea, a generally much wetter climate and 5 months a year where every road has a covering of road salt.

I also have a 2015 and have just bought some Dinitrol to do some rust proofing on mine when the weather warms up, only mild surface corrosion around the welds at the moment but I intend to keep this vehicle for another 5 years so it needs attending to. 👍🏻🇬🇧

Just posted my comment and saw yours. Mine looks in a sorry state underneath. Weighing up my options as to what to do next, whether I get it "sand" blasted repainted and then rust proofed first then add any mods for work, or grab the items I need for work... , Winch bumper, new canopy suitable for farming and mounting gear on the rear of it, new rear bumper, underbody protection, suspension etc then get it blasted and fit once that job is done before treatment.

Professionally apply Mike Sanders protection to any new vehicle and you will be fine with regards to salt induced corrosion.

I can definitely relate with the Toyota reliability. We own a HDJ79 with 350k, Prado 2014 with 230k. The Prado is stock as a rock apart from ARB bullbar and roof rack. I did the injectors at 210k but I was working at a diesel fuel injection shop at the time. I did my time at a Toyota dealership in Australia and we did have Jeep and Hyundai. In the small town we live in the amount of work that the Jeep's and Hyundai's needed other than service work was unbelievable competed to the Toyota's. The HDJ79 isn't stock but has never had a major failures. Just a clutch and injector return pipe at 310k. I worked in an underground mine and we tried the Patrols and we removed them from the fleet after 3 months as the exceeded the price of a LandCruiser in 12 months of service.

I have a 2007 Hilux, so this was more interesting to me than the Prado videos, awesome though they are. Thank you. The oil fill cap looked a bit loose - they seem to run E/W usually.

Thank for this video. Mine is a 2009 Hilux 3.0 Invincible and its rusty as hell at 140k Miles of which 40k mile in the last 9 years since I got it. Never been in the sea either, but with the amount of salt on the roads over here is probably why. Even my sump guard has rusted completely through. Last week my common rail died, not sure why. Garage I take it to found it spraying diesel everywhere after a test drive. Waiting on a new part from Toyota UK. It's my only vehicle and using as a daily driver and part time work truck. The rear "chrome" bumper feels horrific, especially behind the number plate mounting point. Leant into it to unscrew the reg plate and I heard a crunch and the amount of large chunks of rust that well off was alarming. Now wondering what I need to do to save my truck. Thinking I get it fixed then find a Toyota specialist that does vehicle prep as I need to make some mods and fit stuff for work anyway. Any suggestions?
