I do have a 2kd 2008 4x4 hilux with 488.000 km and it is all original included the inyectors, what a great engine, still pulling strong

Injectors that lasted 437,000 kms. That's exceptional.

I had a 1KZ Surf that used to overheat at the slightest hill,,, being a diesel fitter myself,, pulled it down to check head, in the end the only thing i didnt rebuild was the bottom end,,, put it back together,, same thing,, checked exhaust runners with temp gun,, 1 and 2 were good, 3 was hotter and 4 was about to melt, haha,, done some research and found the head gaskets in stock were for the newer prado 1kz's not the surf,,, so i enlarged the cooling circuit holes in 3 and 4 pots,, never had another problem,, but the the 2 different head gaskets had the same part number,, go figure

The oil is changed when dark in color the pick up screen is always clean when checked when the injectors were changed ( black smoke under load plus bad diesel knock ) the Toyota Thailand tech said it looked brand new inside engine so no sludge build up the truck is a 2007 might be overkill on oil changes but oil is cheap but engines are expensive lol

Mate you are a legend. I'm a Kiwi in NZ watching as many of your videos as I can. Don't stop. After having 5 vehicles with 1KZ i now have my first 1KD . Loving your video on these. However. I still have a 90 series prado with 1KZ engine that has an oil leak. Appears to be coming from rear of block possibly rocker cover gasket. Can't see unless I remove stuff. Thought I'd message you first. Is there a typical scenario that you have experienced. thanks.

Pink Toyota Coolant please. I'd love to see how the 'other' shop would work on one of those KD engines in a standard roof hiace where its only pain and agony.

Even listening to it crank mate - it's an even crank, you can hear an engine when it's down on one cylinder. It sounds mint when you're cranking it, the fuellie that looked at it prior doesn't know what he's on about.

hi 1kd ftv hilux 115,000kms last oil change 110,000 kms o.e.m oil filter and full synthetic oil on cold starting the oil light stays on 5 seconds with valve train noise which goes away when oil light goes out I have always used o.e.m filters ( Toyota Thailand) I think the filter is draining back but Toyota filters are supposed to be the best for this engine.Have you experienced this problem is it the filter or something else what do you think thank you

love ya vids mate. ya talk a lot but I manage to tune into most of it. How about you include average prices for parts and labour. I got a 2009 hilux with 23300 ks. I need to prepare for the injectors be replaced and would like to hear from an honest bloke with an honest opinion. thanks again for the vids mate cheers

I want to know how the !@#$ they trash the injector pipes that bad?? I undid mine with an open ender and didn't round any of them.... Load it up with one hand and shock it with the palm of your other hand and they will crack the thread and undo.... Seems like every other one is stripped!

A 2kd ftv engine owner here from my 2006 toyota innova in the Philippines, all i can say it is such a reliable car now at 200k km plus mile age and no problem at all. The only thing that i replaced are the clutch kit assembly and suspension bushings and ball joints. Other than that the cluster panel i replaced it as well.
