Fox Hunting - Thermal Scope Shooting Red Foxes & Rabbits on an ATV

I'm away this trip on a family property fox hunting with my hunting ATV and thermal scope / scanner. At this time of year the ewes are lambing and the foxes must be controlled to reduce damage to young lambs birthing. I'm fox hunting off my ATV quadbike as transport and using a Pulsar Thermion XQ50 thermal rifle scope. It's a huge fox hunting advantage at night shooting these problem foxes. Call it passive hunting and the foxes aren't alerted like they would be to a traditional spotlight.

Absolute quality footage. Those Hares (I think you said they were) looked like they were spontaneously combusting from the damage after being unzipped from those shots! Love it! 👍

Nice job budd really enjoyed it👍 How about a bit more footage behind the scenes like what u did with ur quad walk thru. I think people wood enjoy more detail like ur camp, a bit of footage from the drive into the property, run down of ur vehicle an how u transport ur weapons, field dressing of any animals u keep for meat, how/what ranges u sight ur rifles in at etc etc. Just my thoughts on it anyway so maybe others might think the same?? Stay safe budd🤙
@EDGEoftheOUTBACK
@EDGEoftheOUTBACK 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. I might do some stuff like that. Wouldn't do driving in etc. Unfortunately too many people watch these types of videos and look for landmarks to go and hunt themselves. Have already been burned by that so I'm very cautious now, which is a bit sad TBH as I'd love to share things like that.
@bigd4000

EDGE of the OUTBACK Yeh u do have to b wary of the landmarks etc I was more thinking of any interesting flora or fauna etc but totally agree re the spot poachers. Bit of tech stuff like sighting in ur rifles etc wood b cool as I’ve just dropped the handloads I do for my 303 from 170gr down to 150gr and still tossing up what distance I should zero it at?? All gd tho I’m just bored waiting for my shoulder to come gd another op😁 Cheers D

Thanks for the video. I have asked before but didn’t get a response. In all your thermal night shooting I notice you are completely still with no movement ( that I can see anyway) are you always using a rest? And if so what type rests do you use? Thanks Jeff
@EDGEoftheOUTBACK
@EDGEoftheOUTBACK 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeff. Sorry I missed your question before. Most of my n night shooting is supported in some way. Be that a padded rail on my quad. Or a tripod and quadstick setup if I'm on foot.

Great job in cutting down the fox numbers. Not sure why you want to use 100gr 308 on a rabbit. Yes I know you can, and I could have used my 4.5" Mk 8 Naval gun from 24 miles and got dozens in one go, but I didnt - coz there's always someone that will complain. 17MHR or 204 is more then enough even for fox.
@EDGEoftheOUTBACK
@EDGEoftheOUTBACK 2 жыл бұрын
Very true, BUT..... I only had one expensive thermal scope. It's not practical to be swapping optics in the field. It's my choice to swap up rifles used. Often I am running my 17HMR or 204 👌

@EDGEoftheOUTBACK
@EDGEoftheOUTBACK 3 жыл бұрын
Hi There. With a good external IR light, Yes it will reach to 250m. With the inbuilt IR no it will not get that range, IMO about 120-130m pulls that up for a nice clear sight picture. The 204 is devastating on small game......
