For the guys out there where the fuel pump relay is in the passenger side fender, the connector with the red wire that triggers the fuel pump may or may not exist. There's a green plug with a green wire in the passer side kick panel with a yellow stripe that splices out to three. Those three wires trigger the fuel pump. You can connect the green wire from the Holley kit to one of the spliced green wires with the yellow stripe and it will work. Although the Termi X harness already has a relay I still wired in another 40 amp relay just for peace of mind.

Can you explain more on how you connected your oil pressure and coolant temp to the stock gauges.

I just wired them directly to the gauges by bypassing the "salt and pepper shaker connectors." Once you remove the factory engine harness, it becomes kinda obvious.

Great video !! Only small thing is.... holley says like 12 times in the instructions that the main power needs to goto the battery positive and battery negative DIRECTLY ON THE BATTERY. I hope you never find out how touchy these holley ECU’s are, but I’m shocked no one has mentioned it. For anyone using this as a guide, put the main power/grounds DIRECTLY on the battery. Again, really awesome you took the time to post this to help everyone :)
@Mustang-Geek3 жыл бұрын
It's to avoid RF noise. Feel free to connect your power wire directly to the battery terminal. Mine works great with it connected directly to the battery cable at the starter solenoid, but if you want to connect yours directly to the battery, go for it!
@bryanleverett28303 жыл бұрын
FixBody Mustangs the battery dampens surges in the electrical system that holley says can damage the ecu. Holley also says “If you don’t hook them up directly to the battery, and you have a ecu fail, don’t even call us”. All the people that do this professionally go bananas ( search “Devon holley” on KZfaq) when they see the main power hooked up anywhere but the battery. Now..... can you act like holley are just saying to be jerks and you know better than the company that built it, and it work? Sure. You just did. But if you ecu stops connecting in 2 months and the car won’t start, don’t be mad at holley when you mail them the ecu and they say, “It’s bad. It’s not covered under warranty because it was clearly hit with a power surge”. I’m not saying YOU shouldn’t do it how ever you want. I would say, prob not great to tell everyone watching this to disobey a corner stone of what holley says like 8 times in the instructions (I guess for no reason, lol).

Great Vid Wes. I was wondering and maybe I missed something but did you fully remove your stock ECU, and if so are all of your stock gauges working based on the couple wiring tricks you showed with the Oil sensor etc... How did you wire up your airbags to work? Did you use the AUX inputs/outputs in the TermX? Thanks in advance, Subbed!
@Mustang-Geek3 жыл бұрын
I fully removed the factory ECU. The gauges work completely independently, so that's not a problem. (The ECU has its own temp sensor, that is replaced with one for the Holley Terminator X.) The air bag wiring is separate as well, I but since it was loomed with the MAF harness, I had to pull them apart. I am not currently using any inputs/outputs...yet. Should I add nitrous?

Great video - thank you for posting it! Did I see this correctly - does the Holley Terminator system use the Mass Air sensor? If not, wouldn't that make it a speed density system?
@Mustang-Geek4 жыл бұрын
Yes, the default setup of the Holley Terminator is "speed density." The MAF is not used. I left the MAF installed because it is an "adapter" from the intake tube to the air filter. I could get a different filter or find a different coupler, but whatever.
@chuck_machine4 жыл бұрын
@@Mustang-Geek Got it. It just seems odd that they don't use the Mass Air. That was really the big advantage to these engines originally. Seems like it would only help the Terminator to know how much air is being pulled into the engine as a way of measuring load & demand. Thanks for the reply!
@Mustang-Geek4 жыл бұрын
@@chuck_machine A MAF is great with narrow band oxygen sensors, as WOT open loop fueling is more accurate with a MAF. But the wide-band O2 sensor with the Holley Terminator makes a MAF less useful. Consider that the new 2020 Shelby GT500 is speed density!

curious.. i didnt see options for 60 # injectors . MSD, or larger MAF?
@Mustang-Geek4 жыл бұрын
Not sure what the max injector size is, but you can select a bunch of different injectors. Holley 48 lb/hr are listed. If by "MSD" you mean ignition, the Terminator X works with any external box like an MSD. I don't have one...just the stock TFI. There is no MAF with the Terminator X. The Terminator X is speed density with wideband O2 feedback.

Hello there sir and great video BTW but I'm unsure about one part...how to retain and wire oem coil. Old harness is out and followed the wires coming from the coil. I see how the neg side goes to tfi and main harness and 110 conn so just run tfi wire to white wire on holley and cut the other and plug the 110 in? Pos goes to 110, 2 wires to tfi and 1 to a relay by kick panel. How do I wire it to get spark? And I assume keep the inline fuse with it with the grounds that are close by??

@@Mustang-Geek ok so understanding idea here. I know coil operation is a simple concept just not very smart on wiring issues. So turning key sends signal through the 110 into the coil giving spark and neg keeps my tach gauge working. Just one more thing, one of the red pos wires goes from coil to a relay in kick panel by the old ecu. Do I retain that? Just dont wanna damage any components or fry something lol!

I'm not sure if I totally understand your question. You can pick up a 12V switched wire anywhere, really. I connected the fuel pump wire in the kick panel because it was convenient and led to the OEM relay wiring under the seat. But, it seems like what you did will work just fine as well.

If your car is stock, and runs well, there's not much reason to install this system. Hey man I have a couple questions for you if you don’t mind. I plan on doing this to a 1989 mustang. It was a four cylinder, but I plan on putting a 1994 5.0 mustang engine it it as well as the auto trans it was mated to from ford. my first question is will the terminator max work with this transmission? I know you have a terminator x, but I don’t think it’s to different from the max. it’s a 4r70w I think. I could be wrong. my second question is will the terminator work with a newer 5.0 engine into a 88 fox? I know you bypassed the salt and pepper injector connectors, but the 94 didn’t have them as far as I know. and I’m not to sure of the other connectors I might need to make custom. I have most of the engine wiring harnesses, as well as the old ecm from the 94 mustang. The only problem is that the 94 was an auto and for some reason had a manual ecm. Which is strange. I’m kinda new to fox body’s and Holley. so I am very very confused about what I need to do. Thanks!
@Mustang-Geek Жыл бұрын
Great questions. I'll do my best: The stock transmission in the 1994 Mustang is technically an AOD-E. While my understanding is the AODE is very similar to a 4R70W it's not exactly the same. I'm not sure if the Term X Max will control it. I'd ask the Holley tech line about that. On the wiring, you're going to have to use wiring diagrams for both the Fox and the 1994 Mustang to figure out what each wire does (what the colors mean). Hope that helps!
@willboastrum4701 Жыл бұрын
@@Mustang-Geek thanks! A couple more questions if you don’t mind. will the wiring harnesses be interchangeable? cause if I’m running the Holley, I don’t think I’ll need most of the wiring harnesses under the hood right?
@Mustang-Geek Жыл бұрын
@@willboastrum4701 You'll basically need to identify a few wires in your Fox's harness (off the top of my head) switched power, coil +, coil -, etc. The terminator X harness covers everything after that. You'll also need to find the wire that goes to the fuel pump relay and jump the relay under the seat.
