sometimes you can get lucky and find a machine shop with a block the customer didn't come to pick up, and can transfer parts over...if anyone wonders what a "fair price" for an engine is, its whatever you could get back if you sold the parts once you found a cracked block. meanwhile, new to this series, not sure why you wouldn't just pick up an Explorer 5.0 for a 4 --> 8 swap and get the GT40P heads and Cobra type intake. I mean if you're going to take it apart, you can do forged pistons leftover from someone's stroker project and come out ahead.

As many of these blocks are still just laying around in any wrecking yard, coast to coast, it's not like it can't get put together. Y'all having one sitting in your old shop just proves what I said. I hope you guys want to put the Detroit Speed parts in this car also. I've looked at sub-frame connectors and those are the smartest built ones I've come across. The Team Z's don't look easy or solid. The four-eye should be nothing short of bad ass. A stroker windsor, with a solid car, it should haul ass!

This is a great example of the small block Ford’s weak spots. Only 4 bolts per cylinder to hold the heads.

I feel ya Caleb. Was doing my Terminator build and the motor ended up being spent. So instead of a 3 month build it’s been over a year.

I feel your pain. My 302 didnt have enought power so I needed a 410 Windsor and a t56 and had to smooth the engine bay and upgrade everything. Geez. Even needed Holley EFI. 😜

I don’t get it, you made it sound like it’s the end of the world. For the work you guys do there, does it suck, yeah. But a 302 roller can be found anywhere. Just like when you found that extra one. Even if it’s a budget project a used short block is cheap enough.

I’ve had a few 96-98 cobras ...and I believe you should start a project on one .The fan base is big for them and it’s be content

Are the E7 heads better then e8 or 9 aren't they the ones with small combustion chambers or something

I bet that block cracked all because of that Fram oil filter. You're lucky you had an extra block laying around most people don't have that opportunity. I know all about punches in the mouth with Car Projects. Rebuilt the engine on my daily driver twice. Still wasn't running right. Finally one day it started pissing out water. Engine block cracked. Bought a junkyard motor and all the parts needed to get it going including the rotating assembly. Then I got laid off because of Corona and everything's on the back burner and here I am writing this message. It's just punch after punch. And that's not even the project baby, lol. On Project baby I did a hydraulic clutch conversion, and the master cylinder was bad out of the box, lol. How's that for luck I made 740hp. 5850rpm with the project baby, with a e303 cam and gt40x heads, 302, pump 93. Sure there are better cams out there. But if you could get one for a hundred bucks or less it's worth it. Anything more than that better off getting a custom cam they're not that expensive.

What heads you gonna put on there? I've got a set of Crane 1.7 rockers for stock heads that I can hook you up with? Might cost ya a Foxcast hat or somethin'. Lol
