We suffer serious damage as a river boat crashes into our narrowboat. Luckily, we escaped serious injury but had we been in the galley we would have been seriously injured.
Police, Paramedics, the Fire Service, and Environment Agency are involved as a Thames Cruiser suffers mechanical problems and loses control, smashing into our boat.

When I was young watching a bugs bunny cartoon, bugs said “there is no sense worrying because you will never come out alive” I wrote that on a piece of paper and carried it in my wallet for 40 years taking it out once in a while to remind myself not to worry so much. Luckily for me it helped. Take care guys! Love your vlogs. They are relaxing and funny.

Great recommendation for Bickerstaff’s. That’s fantastic service by any standard. The other important point you making about worry is very insightful and yes, theirs no point in dwelling on accidents once you are over the shock. The same applies to Dillon. He was a wonderful companion and character who deserves to be remembered in the best possible way, and will be by your many subscribers as well as yourselves. Being a cancer survivor myself, I've learned that unless something is on fire, a bone is sticking out or someone is gushing blood, everything else can be repaired or replaced. Even most of those can be repaired. Life finds a way and we need to adapt and be willing to change with it.

A tribute to the strength and positive design of Silver Fox that the damage was limited to the window. You have to admire the dedication of your repair guy, Ryan, to have you on the way in so little time. Colin, you are absolutely right that worrying about what you can’t control is a waste of time and energy. Poop happens whether you worry about it or not. Life passes you by if you’re hiding from it. Glad you are good and if bad things come in threes (Fracture, Dylan’s passing and Cruiser Crunch) you’re due for a period of pure bliss including your new venture. I liked your thoughts on worry. I'm worrying myself sick about my daughter who had a stroke at the time you lost Dillon. You're right worry doesn't help. It only made me unable to cope. Getting stronger and my daughter is still in hospital learning to walk etc. Thanks as always for sharing .

I have sailed small boats across big oceans and living in Israel, serving in 2 wars and enduring quite a number of rocket attacks, I have definitely been scared a few times. But worry??? Some people have said that I'm too dumb to worry :) But my philosophy is '" It's never as good as you hoped and never as bad as you feared. So just keep on enjoying what you got. So far so good. It has worked for me. For what it's worth...

Just watched this (a year late) and thought again what a lovely boat you have, and how you are such a nice couple. You are right, worrying about things before they happen only makes you stressed, worrying after they have happened is a waste of time as the milk has been spilt. Life is too short to waste by stressing and ignoring the opportunity to enjoy the moment. You have a great life together, and your comments about mental health challenges must be really helpful to those who are experiencing similar issues. We have a choice in whether to laugh or cry, choose wisely.

So very glad no one was seriously injured and as you say, the couple on the other boat turned out to be genuinely nice people . . . stuff happens right. So very nice of Ryan to drive up from so far away to expertly fix your boat and as good fortune would have it, the window replacement was in stock. The scenery around Wittenham Clump was stunning and as always, who doesn't love . . . Foxes Afloat drone footage. The weather and the natural beauty of England never fails to impress, relax and inspire us. Thanks so much for this one Colin and Shaun, it truly is a breath of some very fresh air. All my life I've been a worrier. My adopted mom would say, "think of the worst thing that could happen & if something better happens, then you'll be happy ". Well I think that's why I've always worried so much!! Then when she was old she told me that she spent too much time worrying!!! Sorry about losing Dillon. So sad to lose him. You actually got lucky on this damage. Well lucky in a way. The cruiser could have hit the metal either side of the window and caused major metal damage. So I a way with the only damage being contained to just the window glass you got a little lucky. I’m glad you’re both ok and that silver fox is repaired with a minimum of fuss.

I have never commented before but felt the need to now so although I sit here silently I appreciate your videos beyond measure and thank you for letting us follow your journey and please keep up all the hard work because even though a lot of us are silent we really do appreciate everything the both of you do.

So glad your both ok and the boat is repaired, we had exactly the same incident two years ago when a hire boat came through the forward cabin window it really does shake you up. Great vlog as always stay safe boys x

Even with all that happened, you guys are my hero's. I wish I had the courage to just sell out, buy a narrowboat and live life at 2mph. Enjoy it for all the rest of us....Beautiful boat, beautiful people!!! XOXO

I just realized that listening to you helps me. I am very high functioning Autistic man. I am unable to take medication due to my line of work. I did try using one but the side effects weren't good. You talking about worrying hit home. I am worried about many things and had a talk with my wife over the phone about it. Due to where I work and COVID, I have not been able to go home in 12 months. Now I am worried about changing jobs and not have the peace of mind that I do now. So much more I worry about as well. I listen and watch your videos while I work. Thank you.

When I saw your social media posts I was so shocked and also amazingly glad you're ok. I didn't want to 'like' this video because I hate the idea of your home being hit (and to think of Kev and his guys knowing their baby was involved in an accident), but I always will like them for your YT data stream. Thanks as always for sharing the hard parts of boating along with the fun parts; even in this case, I think it's great to see how supportive the community of friends you've made is. Bickerstaffe isn't just a name on a boat; this is family support right here. I'm so impressed with that whole group. Warms the heart. Stay safe and have great cruising weather! ive only found this channel a few weeks back after falling into the idea of moving onto a narrowboat :/ but i love these lads, im watching all the old videos, "i felt like taking my clothes off and walking in" hahaha this pair is amazing im laughing every few seconds haha. love you guys hope all is well!

Listen lads, take it from a really OLD guy that has survived a LOT..... 90% of the stuff we worry about could never happen, and the other 10% you can't do anything about anyway! Live with that upper most in your mindset and life will be great for you. Happy travels mates.

Absolutely love you guys. You really made my day today. Not because your narrowboat was crashed into of course, but long day at work. You two have the best attitudes and sense of humor. You can tell you really love and respect one another. Anyway, hello from Illinois where we are still on partial lockdown and we have a long ways to go. We have a canal about 20 minutes away with tow paths and old buildings that used to make the cement when they were creating the canal. No narrow boats though. Thank you so much for letting me watch all your adventures. Sorry for going on but I had to have a Titos and lemonade. Cheers to you two!! Love ya!!

Aww Colin loved listening to you talking about your worries sitting up on the hill...... you said you were heartbroken over Dillon still.... Wow !! A horrendous thing to happen, a boat in your boat ... OMG but as you said Colin, it's fixed and you just laugh about it, you have to, if you didn't then you'd cry and that's no good. Brave guys you two and three cheers for Ryan, what a guy for going all that way in the middle of the night, a real star. If I ever have a boat built rather than using my old heap then Bickerstaff will be the place I'll go.

I missed the vlog where you lost Dylan but I wont look for it as it would upset me. Kind of upset Silver got damaged but at the end of the day, Both of you are more important than a narrowboat-much as she's a beauty. Your words on worry were spot on. Worry can cause dreadful harm to us, and almost never helps. Taken properly, it can help you to be prepared for future events.
