Because bail isnt a means of punishment. Bail is a means of guaranteeing that someone will attend trail. Under the eyes of the law you are innocent till proven guilty. The only time bail isn’t considered is the person is a clear and present threat or a high flight risk. On top of all that almost all the jails in America are understaffed and over capacity.

Another fact was the Mothers testimony that she saw barely got out of the way of the white vehicle, grabbing her son, and hearing that car strike her boys, yet again the defense lies, shifting the blame to her boyfriend, and his SUV. Then the daughter lies to help her mother claiming the boyfriend came back and hid in the bushes, watching what unfolded. I understand you have to have some defense, but sometimes it's not worth it, a simple admission, and throwing yourself onto the mercy of the court is the honorable and best choice to make. The issue of the inadmissibility of that evidence you referenced seems on par w/ all the actions they took, legal or not.
