Hey Foy, huge fan for quite a while. Not sure if these comments ever get back to you, but felt compelled to leave one here for you on this track particularly. My father’s name is Christopher and just over a year ago he passed away unexpectedly. He happened to pass away exactly one year before I married the love of my life. He adored her and noticed in me that I was never happier in my life than when I was with her. It is clear that this song is incredibly meaningful to you and your family. I wanted to let you know that this song has touched other families in such a profound way. It’s hard (nearly impossible) to not shed a tear (or weep uncontrollably) while listening to this song. It is such an amazing work of art, not only the emotional connection, but also the pure beauty, craft, and skill that it took to create it. I thank you, with all my heart, for writing this song and sharing it with the world.

Dear Foy! I am totally blown away by each song. To me actually they are far more than just another songs. “Signs of Life” is already my ever # 1 dearest and favorite album. I’ve never felt anything alike in my wide and deep music experience. Each song feels like a beloved person who gently holds your hand, truly understands you and has an outstanding inspiring personality that unfolds in magical details right before the eyes. Like a beautiful forest that welcomes you in it’s being. Can’t thank you enough for these moments of soul illuminating experiences. You are incredible. Thank you so so much.

This song dropped exactly in the middle of the love of my life and I taking time apart. Such a confusing and painful time for both of us. We are back at it together at this point but still working through so very much. Its never been or will be over a lack of love....my goodness....there is no shortage of that. Hi Foy, we discovered you on the SBC cruise in 2020, and instantly fell in love with your intelligent, provocative lyrics and your unique style, not to mention that stashe! I've been following you since and this is the most beautiful song I've heard in a while. In part - that may be because of the arrangement. Try to find this song recorded in the Highlands. That version has different instrumentation. It's a lot more emotive - simpler- I love it !

**Backstory to this song: Source: Mystic Sons -Speaking about the new offering, he said, “Christopher was Marie, my wife’s father, who passed away suddenly a few years back. When it happened, Marie was in London and I was in Scotland. Her mum had phoned her to say Christopher had dropped in the kitchen but they weren’t sure if he was dead. Marie wasn’t there…But she was still holding out hope that he would be alive when she got there, and I let her think that, rather than tell her what I was certain to be true. And it was. He died immediately. Her hope of hearing his voice again was heartbreaking. She then came to Nashville with me while I was recording an album, and every day we would wake in the morning then go and sit out the back with a coffee, and that is where I would leave her - and that is where I would find her when I got home.” At 6 seconds you see a note “if dad calls..”

His wife’s father who passed away suddenly a few years back. She held out hope that he’s be alive when she arrived at the house but he had passed away. The couple went to Nashville for recording and after they’d have coffee his wife would go sit outside and that’s where she’d be when he arrived back from the studio. He talked about it in an interview about the album

@@longshot82383 I believe you are right. I think it's a dying father wanting to speak to his son. I also believe that the son doesn't know his dad is dying, and the father pushed him away his whole life. I believe these things because it is exactly what happened between my father and me. Many of Foy's songs are eerily and uncannily paralleled in my life. I'm not delusional and thinking they are ACTUALLY about me. They just really hit home for me. Anyway, good man, great artist. Thanks for unknowingly writing the soundtrack of my life Foy.
