Great goalie! I was deeply gutted when he was sold to Villa. Since Lehman, Arsenal have let some of the league's best keepers go for some strange reasons and Martinez is a beast, on a planet on his own. I hope they don't make the same blunder by selling Ramsdale because trust me on this, he would come back to haunt us, the same way Martinez has been doing.

Trust me on this, Martinez is the best goalie in the league by a mile, and when against us he plays with vengeance. As we speak, AV are our pet peeve, all because of one man: Mr Martinez.

Emi own words : arteta told me 95% I am starting against Fulham, but I was thinking why not 100% why 95 %. Plus arteta told him that there isn't number 1 number 2 goalkeeper. And he checked out. There was no promises made no promises broken. Why he decided to twist the story now god knows.

He was a youth player for Arsenal. He's been in England so long (since 2009) that I bet he'd qualify for the Three Lions if he had made it big quickly for Arsenal. Bayern Munich's Serge Gnabry and Real Betis' Héctor Bellerín both speak English with a slight Cockney accent. All Arsenal foreign born academy players are given extensive classes in English.

A curious case is Lionel Messi, who, even though he went to Catalunya at age 13, he has kept a very rough, working class Rosario accent throughout his life. Even more curious is Mikel Arteta, who in many cases gives me the impression that he thinks in English in terms of tactical vocabulary, yet uses terms like "good height" which makes sense in a literal translation from Spanish, but it's difficult to understand in English even in context.

The truth is, Martinez was never convincing whenever he got a chance to play for arsenal until that final season ending in the FA cup. Most games he was really poor. Some players just mature and bloom later. Look at Vardy. Glad he’s done well, seems a good guy, he’s moved on and so has Arsenal.

Devastated he wasn't allowed to keep Arsenal's #1. FACT he earned it. Yes, Leno was injured but it was taken away from Emi for no reason when he was on fire. Unfortunately for Arsenal it was the right move for Emi to move away. He proved he was right as he solidified Argentina's #1 for the Copa and WC & Arsenal sold Leno a year or so later. Best GK I'd have him back at Arsenal in a flash

Should not have sold Martinez. Leno should never have come back into the side because Martinez was outstanding whilst Leno was injured. A huge mistake and unfair since he was here for years.

I'm one those fans that watch every single game. You have to be fair. Every time you played for Arsenal you were crap until those last ten games. All those mistakes you made in the league cup over the years. Lets not rewrite history. Give Arsenal some credit for sticking with him. Lets have it right, he's terrible with his feet. He's great a club like Villa. But he doesn't suit a big club (no offence to villa). He's a great shot stopper, but really not good enough for Arsenal. Szczesny was a much better keeper at the time and overall.

It’s not bollocks. That match at Reading killed his Arsenal career before it got going. The crazy 7-5 match. He only featured 15 times for Arsenal in the league in 8 years at the club. Most of those starts were after Leno got injured in 2020. But he was otherwise 3rd fiddle behind Fabianski, Sczeszny, Cech, Ospina, Leno at various points in those years. He was an overlooked talent.

Every time he played for Arsenal he was nothing special though until that Leno injury. He played in Europa League and Carabao Cup the same season. In Carabao Cup vs Liverpool it was 5-5, he was far from amazing. He went through 2 penalty shootouts with Arsenal and couldn't save a penalty to save his life. I don't know if he had confidence issues but I could never understand where his later form came from.
