@@joelthorpe4170 And he was robbed. He should have won it that year. Rivaldo won La Liga with Barca whereas Beckham won the Treble with United and was their best player in a season that, let's not forget, saw him villified by the English press and public due to the World Cup the previous summer.

I worked for 3 years in Football Football Restaurant in the Haymarket London in the mid 90s and we hosted many top class footballers and managers. David Beckham was an absolutely wonderful person when he visited always taking time to speak with the staff and even offering to help move some tables on one occasion. He was simply delightful.

Beckhams goal against Greece with all that pressure was AMAZING. I’m a Liverpool fan but Becks…..unreal baller. He’s underrated because of his celebrity status which ppl focus more on than his playing skills these days

I was at a Utd v Leeds match in 91 , I think it was the first game of the season at Old Trafford . In the warm up I watched Beckham put 4 balls in the top right hand and then 4 in the top left hand corner . He put all 8 balls in a 2ft square within about an inch from the cross bar . It was an amazing thing to see I couldn’t believe it. It was my first ever Utd match and it was absolutely incredible.

1 thing that really annoys me. Is how the younger generation see Beckham. He gets slated over the internet from kids whove never seen him play as and think hes just fasion icon. He was a world class player who could operate from cm as well as rm. Actually with his range of passing hed have been even better in the modern game similer to KDB. The RM position he palyed for United dosnt really exist as it was back then. But when i watch some of the line breaking passes KDB does, i could 100% picture beckham in that role

he was shocking for England after his free kick against Greece. He was half injured at the 2002 world cup. He was diabolically bad at euro 2004, bbc replayed the full games during lock down and he was absolutely useless, just spamming aimless long balls to nobody, especially against Portugal. 2006 world cup, his last tournament he was dogshit too. People saying he doesn't get the respect he deserves are delusional. He was decent for 6 years then bang average for the remainder of his career

And how many of those freekicks and crosses has Word Prowse pulled off in the same level of pressure situation as Beckham? On the counter though, Beckham, had way better players on the end of his whips to convert them? It's not such an easy argument to solve, but i would still consider Beckham to be way ahead of the present lot in terms of making them kicks count.

Beckham > Giggs. Hands down. Only thing Giggs has on Becks is longevity in the best league. And I think if Becks had stayed in the prem he would’ve played just as long as Giggs really. Plus, Becks doesn’t abuse females.

@@Do27gg 100%. Giggs gets hyped up bcos he played 22 prem seasons despite the fact that for a lot of those seasons his quality had dropped off. In the early years and middle of his career he was undoubtedly a good player, but I defo don’t think he was better than Becks if we are talking specifically about who had the highest peak. Also people down play how good Becks was purely bcos of how big he was outside of football. For a large chunk of his career he was arguably more of a big celebrity than a footballer. But that shouldn’t take away from just how good he was. Sorry for the spam 👍

Becks in the "maybe" pile is a travesty. Since retirement Scholes' legend has been massively inflated and Becks' legacy has been hugely underrated and I've got no idea why. Everyone has somehow forgotten that Becks was runner-up for he ballon d'or in '99. Everyone talks like he was just a celeb. Very weird

They talking about best prem 11? I think some players are born with the inevitability of making it. Obviously there's hard work involved for them, however, on the other hand there are players who can only make it their work ethic. I think Beckham and Neville are examples of that and maybe Rice, now.
