Specially thanks for highlighting the case io connections to the motherboard. In most guides I seen, they forget to bring that part up and it's usually not very intuitive and cause many new pc owners to get confused. Great guide :)

really excellent build guide! I learned a few things I need to know about the Fractal Torrent and it's back at the top of the list, vying with a Corsair 5000D and Fractal Meshify S2. It's a real pity that you can't keep the 180mm fans and install an AIO. I would prefer it if Fractal Design didn't include a tempered glass panel on the wiring side of the case: it's not necessary and only increases cost and the chances of a tempered glass panel being shattered. Also, who needs to look at the wiring? This is the only thing I find actually disappointing about the Fractal Torrent: if I do buy it I might even contact Fractal to see if they can replace the panel with a steel one from the windowless version of the case. This is one of, if not the, the best build channels I've found, with extremely clear and logical explanations. Kudos.

@treyquattro

@@ScottMurrayDesign no need - I went with a Fractal Meshify Compact instead. I am happy with the choice. However, in future tempered glass is out - RGB lighting is the most stupid thing I've done in a PC build. It looks nice, for about 5 minutes, and after that is completely pointless, especially if you put the PC on the floor under a desk.

High quality video, cheers man. Just found your channel, and if you keep this quality up you're in for some serious growth. :) I particularly liked the thermal testing you did in the accompanying video, with different fan configs and that stuff. That's very valuable testing that almost nobody else does. Please keep doing that and I'll be one happy subscriber. One question on this case: is it physically possible to install a 420mm AIO in the front and keep the 3x140 fans at the bottom? It looks like that might not fit, but not sure.

1st I think you put the aio in the wrong position ,you need to put the tubes down or you going to hear a water running noise in time as the bubbles going to build in the top of the radiator, and I want to see if the cables are long enough to reach down ,I think this case is mostly designed for air coolers and water pumps ,and it will be nice to see how is going to work with vertical mount GPU and some thermals ,apart from this good review keep up the good work

Correct, the AIO is installed incorrectly and is going to result in lots of noise, pump starvation, and pre-mature failure of the AIO cooler. Tubes DOWN! Or bettter yet, mount the AIO on top and NEVER on the bottom.

@SouthernCross_
@SouthernCross_ Жыл бұрын
That's a weird way of looking at it IMO. I'm no expert, but the point of this case is the fantastic native thermals that you get from all the big ass fans included. Why pull them out and try to force an AIO in a case that wasn't meant for it? What's the point of spending so much extra money on a case if you aren't going to utilize the source of the extra cost? This case is meant to either use a CPU fan or a full liquid cooling system.

I just got this case with a z690 asus rog hero mainboard. I mounted the two big fans and tried to put it in but it was touching the mainboard when sliding in. Then I tried sliding them in when the tray is already placed and they did fit. Sadly there is no way to screw them in place that way. However after mounting the big fans on the tray again they magically ended up sliding into place under the mainboard. There is really not much room underneath the mainboard (not even for any cable so I had to route them from the side) but they actually do fit.

I really want to make a build in this case (with air cooled CPU), but the cable management seems awful. Especially with 2 HDDs and an SSD that need connections. Reaching the GPU from the top might even be a challenge. Using non-rgb fans would help but then the inside looks very dull. So far I've always used the Define series, but apparently that front panel blocks a lot of airflow.

I would've liked if you noted the screws to be used during the motherboard install. The images of the mounting screws depicted on the builders guide and the accessories box ended up not clearly corresponding to every screw (and the bags of screws aren't labelled). However, I soon realized that the bag with 11 mounting screws was correct but not before trying to put one fan screw through my motherboard :/ Also, the PWM motherboard header is supposed to go to a CPU fan connector according to the case manual.
