Awesome review! Can't wait to read this. I have and love Essence & Alchemy. It's been a fantastic guide as I've taught myself to make perfume over the past couple of years. You are so right - when you get into it, you realize it's so much more than mixing this and that. It's a life's work. I have so much respect for Ms. Aftel and her skill and passion. Thank you for highlighting her work on the Bros!

I finished reading Essence & Alchemy a couple of weeks ago and I loved it, I already bought Fragrance and I can’t wait to start reading it. I did not know about the companion kit and I have been wanting to smell Ambergris in a more pure form so this is terrific news...thank you for sharing!

I'm sorry, but if I purchased the hard-copy I would be inclined to use it to bash my brains out. While I do love fragrance, I personally don't wish to hear anyone drone-endlessly and babble-nonsensically about their adventures in perfumery or their philosophy regarding scent. To me, it's just not interesting and a complete waste of time. I would much rather spend my time reading the science behind scent, taking a perfumers course, or simply dabbling with Essential Oils and Aroma Chemicals.

Holy Balls...I stand corrected! After querying our e-book service for this title, I browsed through dozen or so pages, while handling some work items, before making my statement. My statement is accurate...however, it applies to a different book. Doh! Apparently this one hasn't made its way to our e-bookstore yet and I was browsing through a perfume industry book released earlier this year which was, in fact, quite horrible; pretentious gag-reflex inducing fluff. (Lol) Anyway, I'll look this one over (for real) as soon as it's available to me.

I'm not sure, but it had something to do with perfume collecting in the title. It was a novel...and in retrospect the timeline was off by a half-century.
