Time to frame a basic shed wall. One side of the shed is a basic wall with no windows or doors. This is the easiest type wall to build. I am using a treated 2x4 for the bottom and untreated lumber for the studs and top. First a but the bottom and top to equal lengths. Then I set them side by side so they are together. Using a speed square and tape measure I mark every 16" on center across the two boards. I then cut down the studs to the length that I need. In my case I wanted the walls to be 8 foot tall. So my studs needed to be cut down to accommodate the bottom and top boards plus a top plate. Lastly once the wall has been assembled I use liquid nails and a combination of screws and nails to hold the wall in place.

I really enjoy following your builds, as of now I have watched EVERY video on the land to house channel. It's perfectly fine to use all deck screws to frame a shed wall. Nails are just cheaper and go much faster if you have a framing nailer.

Wow that is a lot of videos! 1200 ish. In my past builds the nail vs screw crowd came out. So to be fun I used both. :)

Nice work. My only caution is small children (especially bare footed) and power tools don't mix

Looking good so far. Ill be doing a 20 or 25 x30 in the future but I'm going with 12ft walls.

If you have the space for 25 x30 do that! I already should have done 16x20 haha My other building is 10 foot walls. 12 will give you so much space!

Why are the first 2x4’s from each end not 16” on center?

Did you keep a running total of what the entire building cost to build? I sure would like to know and when did you build this?

This build was done in Oct 2021. Some of the cost was high from C19 its better now. I don't have a cost breakdown.

Just mark your base and top plates once. Will save you a lot of time

Thats true. But it also works to mark twice. :)

Hello, What are the exact screws did you use? I tried looking and pausing in the video was hard to read the label. If you can post a link or described them briefly. Excellent work and very informative instructions! Keep at it! Thanks!

These are typical torx screws. My local hardware store has them for $4 a pound. Lowes has them for $10 a pound.

@@LandtoHouse So the screws I got here at Home Depot in NJ, are DECKMATE #10 x 3-1/2 in. Star Flat-Head Wood Deck Screws 5 lbs./Pack. Is this applicable to the project? Also are the screws in your video "Deckscrews"? Thanks for replying and helping me out.

Just as a design choice for future projects if you want to reduce the amount of timber you use, you could utilise the Australian method of frame construction, when doing wall frames, we maintain centres at 600mm with noggins/cross braces at approx 1200mm height uses less timber and is just as strong, timber in Australia is a bit more expensive so you learn to make a strong structure with less. here is a pic to give more of a picture what i am explaining www.peakebuild.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/timber-frame-construction-pic_013-1024x768.jpg

We call it 24" center here. Works well. Lumber was very costly this year. But I wanted to be able to hang storage shelves at 16" center.
