That was because Zidane united the dressing room, who all eventually decided to fight for him and go all out in the rest of the World Cup games. After he retired from football, the national team took a turn for the worse, as witnessed in the poor Euro 2008 performance and the disastrous World Cup 2010.

More accurately if infringement against Teko Modise inside the 18 yard area in the second half was duly awarded we might be talking a different story altogether. That match was probably more painful than the Uruguay loss for a number of factors which include the one I just mentioned.

Their 2014 sqaud was also quite loaded, it's just that they faced Germany in quarters , if they faced Brazil, France would have been an easy semi final team. Brazil team was trash . Belgium Germany Argentina and France had really good squads that year . Belgium was a bit too young doh .
