it's the Freud thing you know.. without his dad's name attached, he's not much better than the average painter. I have no idea about the rest of what he might be. Bacon though, is another another story; About the the painting that is. God, could that man paint !

To me is rather obvious, he's hiding something. Maybe he wasn't satisfied with the result but liked the pose. Maybe something more obscure. Maybe something irrelevant. The way he used the geometry behind the head and the splatter tells me something happened in this painting.
