Maybe some clarifications would help here. Self-sacrifice does not mean rolling over to let evil triumph. It is precisely in saying that we should not tolerate usury, pornography, subversives, that you will be required to pay a heavy price. There is the self-sacrifice. And the way of going about combating these evils also calls for self-sacrifice -- we cannot use any methods of injustice or deceit or cruelty (such as the enemies of Christ use), for these always end up serving satan. Rather, we have to aspire to overcome them by establishing a solid, Christian order. This means when force is used, it is always done so lawfully. There is much more to say, but I think we are largely in agreement. The public space belongs to Christ and He is waiting for us to take it for Him, but the only way to take it for Him is to take it by His methodology, which is self0sacrificial charity. Nothing can withstand it. It will win. God bless.

In a world where both the seats of Church and state seem to be vacant (we can at least say there is an objective doubt to the legitimacy of their occupants), where does authority for the action of lay Catholics doing their duties lie?
