I’ve owned this Cascadia for 3 months and have realized, Freightliner designed these trucks to make Freightliner rich. They were designed to break and you have to take it to a Freightliner dealer and have expensive Freightliner parts replaced. If the one box Scr catalyst wears out, the only option is to replace the whole one box @$10,000. Truckers need to class action lawsuit these bastards!!!

@Wyneze4sheeze 02 98% of my runs are highway and I still derate to 5mph. Def light blinking, have 3/4 tank full of def. At shop now, hopefully its something simple(which it never is) I tried the speed sensor removal but ¹ I only have 1 sensor not 2 to plug on other ² I unplugged it anyway to try but still at 5mph. 🤷‍♂️. O/O life good until you at a shop🤦‍♂️

@@josedeleon1573 - Look on Amazon for a Nexas NL 102 Plus. It is fairly cheap.. it allows you to do a forced Regen and allows you to clear the codes to get you back on the road.

Happened to me last week. Had to break speed sensor all the way out of housing to drive 45. I have active speed smart way system as well. 2015 freightliner Cascadia dd15. Made it 1700 miles. Needed DEF pump, DEF pumps on national back order, FYI Burns truck and trailer in Ripon California has them. Love your videos Francisco thank you!

First amber light means MIL ( Malfunction Indicator Light) it means there is a problem but not get codes most of the times, 2nd amber is CEL (Check Engine Light) with this light you get the codes and 3rd red light is Stop the engine, sometimes will shut off the engine depending the problem, in this case I performed a parked regen and doin that deleted the codes for a couple days

Thank you for taking the time to explain the lights. I wish I had seen this before I towed my truck 20 miles due to the 5mph derate. I would have saved $500 but the saddest part is that even after spending over $6000 I still have issues with the def system. Me encantan sus videos.

Every time I go up El Cajon pass out of San Bernardino, this always happens unless I go very very slow up the hill. Probably 14 times. After exactly 30 miles it derates to 55mph, then another 30 miles the lights go out and I get my speed back. The turbo only produces 20psi during this time, but after a few hours it goes back to 30 psi. I’ve already put 8k into it and am sick of throwing money at it. I’m just living with it because i’m broke

Try changing you nox sensor or nox control sensor. They are most common. Best would be to get the truck scanned and diagnosed. In that will tell you full info.

Stick a couple pennies in the Override button, and hope for the best. Worked for me after I got the two Amber lights and blinking def. I drove for about an hour till I got to a shop to get it worked on. Don’t drive over *55 mph*

Some tips the speed sensor might be ceased in its bracket if it is kinda sketchy and can screw you over worse but you can break the magnetic tip off the sensor. Make sure you put some tape over it or it will pull the copper into the trans and you’ll be stranded. The video doesn’t show that you have to keep the sensor plugged in just move the sensor far enough away to not get a reading. Secure it with tape if you can. Becareful take ur time if you do extensive damage to the sensor your still screwed. GREAT VIDEO THANKS AGAIN!!!!

It's illegal because you're bypassing the emission system. Essentially telling the authorities that you give a rat's butt about polluting the environment. Dirty air and global warming. Polar bears swimming in warm water will be your fault.

Just had a similar problem without the red light on I have the flashing light on the d e f Gage also the check light was on & no regen light.. I did a regen anyway and it cleared it all up on 2015 DD 15 .. I guess dd15 engine is got a mind of its own thank you thank you for the video it is helpful

Just experienced this issue, all y'all have to do is d a Regen guys! Set your brakes and hold Regen for 4 seconds, it'll take awhile but these signs will go away. Do take the truck to a shop at your convenience.

June 12, 2022: 2015 Cascadia DD15. Small orange DEF light started faintly flashing, then started flashing brightly. Yellow engine light (Left side) and Yellow check engine light. Before I stopped at a truck stop, it went into a 25% derate. I stopped and checked codes: SPN 4364 FMI 18; 3364 FMI 2; 5246 FMI 15. Even though it didn't indicate a Regen, I did a manual regen anyway. **While doing the Regen the Yellow DEF light went out.** I completed the Regen then I cleared the codes. I had just topped off the DEF in the morning and I never let it drop below half tank of DEF.

I saw one of your videos before and it was my metering unit valve..low pressure..I panic when.i saw the blinking light but Google the code and went to the TA shop and said it was metering valve I bought a reman valve replqce it in 45 min remove and install no more problems..

I have no other connectors there either. 2012 DD15. Derates 25% in 5 minutes, 50% in 10 minutes and 60% after about 30 minutes. I am in Fontana CA often and will pay for help. Thx

I didn't buy new sensor, just pulled out my old and it worked, but because my truck is 3 pedal Smart Shift, it would not change gears, even in manual mode. I miss my 13 spd.

Tried it and it lost 60 mph. Totally worked reverse of what he said. I couldn't get above 65. Removed the sensor and the truck would only do 5mph. And truck was disconnected from speedometer and Qualcomm was also disconnected so bad hack

If anyone ever have this problem with Cascadia. If you got the 2 yellow check engines on (Truck only doing 55MPH) and DEF blinking, stop and do a manual regen ASAP. It will do the REGEN- 9 times out of 10 and your problem is solved. Sometimes shutting the truck off a few minutes and cutting the power helps also but if your REGEN starts, and you hear loud noises as if the engine is struggling to REGEN and shuts down- STOP trying to do REGEN and proceed to the next step. If you get the all 3 check engine lights meaning 2 yellow and the red one, try to do regen one time , do NOT do it multiple times because if it doesn’t work the first couple time, it will not work the 10th time either. What you need to do is call road service (unfortunately) the mechanic will then hook it up to the software and that way do regen but •NOTE• if you did the regen 5 times OR MORE and it FAILED all 5 times, you will need to go to Freightliner (Doing it multiple times and failing will LOCK the road assistance guy out to do a REGEN on his software) and have them hook it up to their software which road service guys DONT have (After being locked out) and your day will be screwed. Also, disconnecting the speed sensor does NOT work anymore as the software has been patched. I hope this helps some driver someday as I’m trying to get a hold of the software and patch it myself because its a fucking RIP OFF designed to F*** the driver! 2/11/2021

Yeah bro I agree with you,if you have that red light on you can’t drive at all,it would shut off engine in 30 sec ,Amaya is good mechanic but I don’t know how he mis this,you can disconnect sensor only if you have two yellow check engine light on ,then it would work, if you have red light on only way is towing

When you see the DEF light blinking just stop and do regent 40-50 minutes you can drive with out any problems !

lots of issue come from driving with light load and excessive idling time. you have to do real pm yourself. clean soot off of delta p, venturi tube, imap, intake manifold temp, hc doser injector, inlet nox sensor on newer onebox. Def pump filter, dpf filter. if you have Plv and metering unit make sure no air leak, air drier filter to prevent oil in air. clean metering unit. do def quantity check and active regen. really have to keep up with it. shop should make after treatment pm program.

Yes...I also tried this on my 2014 Cascadia with no luck...sometimes our employers just need to pay attention to their employees reports...and fix the fucking problem...and not always look for the cheapest way out... Routine maintenance is the easiest and cheapest way out...however when you work for an idiot...yep, your one too...!

I have a freightliner cascadia 2012 dd15 Detroit diesel all 3 lights are on and the DEF light is blinking. I have 2 codes and 5 FAILS (FAIL 18, FAIL 1, FAIL 2, FAIL 17, FAIL 4, CHS 71, EEC 61) please help!!!! Don't know what to do.

Had this problem in PA, derated to 5mph. By driving with clutch lightly depressed, was able to override the derate speed and drive to the repair shop 40 miles away at 35-40mph. Not sure if I would have been able to do that with an automatic.

I have 2013 Cascadia, DD15, 10 speed, disconected speed sensor, it didn't help, because when computer derates your engine to 5 mph, it don't use speed sensor to do that, it used engine revs, which will go from 500 to 900 rpm maximum, in order to shift gears you need to rev up to at least 1200-1400 rpm, so you always stuck in low gear and can't drive more then 5 mph.

I drive 2012,i have laptop and interface(nexiq 1),it has helped me avoid few towings,when not more than 5mph with gas at floor i hit reset codes in dddl and truck will jump out of 5mph,wont go any more than 55 but,for me good enough to drive 200 miles to come back to base

so wrong...the reason the low DEF lamp is on is because the MIL lamp is on... it is mandated by the EPA for this to happen.

Hello Sir love your videos. I am a diy person when it comes to my 2017 Freightliner cascadia evolution 125. I need ur help please in understanding how to resolve my MIL light. I have no codes currently except the amber MIL light. Replaced both o2 sensors. I am trying to resolve this MIL light that's on.

Best favour you can do to yourself is to avoid these trucks altogether. They're not worth the pain they take you through.
