Slaying the Whites at a safe pace is all you need. Great views when allowed but even the dense fog looked amazing. The view of the downhill stream y’all came down made my ankles hurt.

I was on that ridge one winter in the late 1980s, stopping every 100 feet to unfreeze rime ice off of my eye lashes, and it was totally socked in. I could barely even see to the next cairn, when all of a sudden the clouds lifted and it was sunny and totally clear. It was an unreal experience. Those mountains are just pure magic. Enjoy the journey.

AT math- 10 miles in the Whites/Southern Maine = 20 miles in Virginia=30 miles on the level. Well done! Be careful on the downs…they are a whole different animal than anywhere else on the trail and my knees still feel it!!!

Great to see Leo continue to make his own way on this terrrain. Sorry for the lack of views, but the fog and wind was pretty cool too. Stick actually took a zero to stay at the Notch a 2nd night in order to have a clear day for the ridge ... day 114 for him, if interested ... and seemed worth it.

I hike this area all of the time, Lincoln and Lafayette has been an extremely popular hike. It was at one point a hidden gem for hikers, now everyone shows up.

Love watching Leo make choices on HIS path navigation. Looks like that leash is working out too. Hope you understand when I tell you that I laugh at you even when you aren't trying to be funny. You are so 'matter-of-fact' that I giggle. Wind chill : if 50 degrees and 20 mph it feels like 40. If 40 degrees and 20 mph it's 30. Approximately. Guessing the wind was stronger but that just drops the 'feels like' temp.

We hiked Franconia loop in the fall. Literature and other hikers told us it would take 8-9 hours, 16 hours later, we got back to the campground. Our rock scrambling did not come close to what we climbed up there. I kept seeing rain drops on the rocks but couldn't feel it. Then my husband turned around and I saw where the water was coming from.

Wow, that was windy. Even Leo looked like he got blown over for a split second. If it was 50° and 30-40 mph winds, it was about 40- 42° I believe. We normally dont start talking wind chill here in Wisconsin until it's about 20° and windy, and a lot of people wear shorts throughout winter, crazies. Lol. It's good to see you're not hiking in that heat, though. That was scary to watch. Not too many views, but a beautiful hike anyway. Getting closer to the prize. Big hugs to Leo❤ ✌️🫶
