this is why there needs to be a 120kg class like powerlifting

I demand a return to the quality of commentating we had with Dave and Dave. Seriously, amazing flow. We didn't appreciate what we had and then like a ghost in the night it was gone..

i agree, the best duo ever in weightlifting, they know about the topic and their voices are really nice to hear

I love watching David Rigert coach Evgeny Chigishev. Whenever he does well Rigert is always so proud of him almost like he is his son.

I've never seen such disrespect from a crowd. It's sad really, but what he does on the platform will speak louder than any crowd.

Incredibly disrespectful crowd.

Oh lord.....the crowd totally spoiled it. I have so much more respect for Chigichev now, being able to do so well under the negative pressure.

respect to those lifts at a huge weight advantage lb for lb hes a hell of alot stronger than the winner.

@khonfosh From my (very limited and based purely off hearsay, mind you) understanding of it, he tried to but just couldn't do it. And seeing him here at 125, he doesn't exactly have weight to lose. That said, it's really a shame that weightlifting doesn't have a 120 or a 125 class. I think we're missing out on a lot of potentially really great lifting, and lifters because of it (not to mention the absolute dominance we'd be seeing from Chigishev- that would be cool too)

@mattnourse Pound for pound, Chigishev is definitely the strongest Super Heavyweight in history. Almost like Jouko Ahola. He wasn't a big man in strongman terms, but he won two World's Strongest Man titles.

Surely chigichev must be, pound for pound, the strongest snatcher in the 105+ class ever? Doing 211 at 125kg bdw, while rezazedah did 213 at 160+ bdw, and now salimi 214 at 160+. Weighing 40kg less and snatching only 2-3kg less is really impressive! The crowd though, they were not as impressive. He gives them an amazing performance, but only when he fails do they cheer. Shameful.
@Unown1277 жыл бұрын
Not completely. Pisarenko did a 265 clean and jerk at 123 kg bodyweight. He's done 210/270 in training, and even cleaned 280 kg.

@TeifiValley12312 жыл бұрын
Yeah i understand that, but i've always been curious to know exactly why. Why do you need so much extra calories & body fat? Rezazadeh weighs about 350lb, but he looks pregnant. If he had huge arms & legs to go with the belly (like an offseason bodybuilder) i could understand where that extra food goes. Its like it all just goes to build a bigger belly.
@alistairthompson27502 жыл бұрын
Think lasha did 488kg weighing 173kg chigichev did 460kg weighing 124kg impressive was to big for 105kg too small for 105+ but competed amazingly

@TeifiValley12312 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but barring a few, all the heavyweights look like they are carrying a baby in their belly. It doesn't really make any difference, but why are they generally that shape? Chigishev is the exception. It seems strange that they need such excessive bodyfat to create the right conditions to lift at their best.

There are people in the crowd walking in his line of sight in the Clean & Jerk and cheering his miss, shameful - I hope Qatar is never able to host a weightlifting event again.
@Grumpus312 жыл бұрын
The crowd is absolute filth. How can somebody cheer when a man misses a lift? How can they be talking between each other when somebody is trying to put 240kg+ over his head? The crowd in Turkey did the same thing to Lu Xiaojun when he failed his last C&J in 2010, but at least they were quiet for his lift. If I were coordinating the event I'd force those people to leave and make them miss Rezazadeh's final lift. That would have been appropriate.
