Frank McCourt was entitled to write about his childhood, which was miserable by any standards. This joker was more worried about Limerick's image than anything else. He is not a very good representative of that city. In fact, he looks like he had a few too many. Angela Ashes was a great book and film imo.

Ive always found this fascinating because Jerry Hannan has a visceral hatred for McCourt. We will remember the awkward scene for the insanity, but I think in the long run, McCourt will be remembered as a writer of acclaim, and Jerry will be remembered for just being visceral.

I was told by one of MC Courts ex-pupils that he was a very violent man. How did he get any education at a time when even second level education was so expensive. I'm Irish and although I never met him I've seen that nasty glance thousands of times in my own childhood.

McCourt named Teresa Carmidy’s mother in his book and even listed her actual employment. She was not purely a fictional “made-up” name. The book really distressed the family

The audience didn’t know who they were applauding themselves as they use cue cards to tell them when to clap, of course pat the plank knew that full well.

In New York Mccourt walked on water. My Old Irish mother thought he was full of malarky. She got tired of answering questions about the book.
