GOD DAMN! This man is so fucking talented. Everything he writes and every song he covers is sung so beautifully and with such emotion. There is no such thing as "a cover by Frank Turner." It's "Frank Turners version of." said song. Keep doing what you do, Frank. You're fucking amazing.

Presuming they are all fans of The Killers who hate hearing their songs being covered. For the record, as a fan of both of these artists, I think Frank Turner does it justice. He's an outstanding musician and this is incredible.

Finally, someone that understands the raw emotion that this song has! So many covers of this song are sung "happy" the character in the song is either a stalker or having his heart torn out. Either way he is tormented.

Are you joking? This moved me more than the Killers ever could.

I love the passion with which he sings this. You can hear the anguish within the lyrics. I, for one, think he did an awesome job.

He has a particular... youthful punk attitude about him which most of his fans relate to. He also gives off an aura of genuineness and kindness in both his music and his interviews etc. That is why he has such an amazing, loyal fanbase. Yes, this isn't his best... but I love it. Because I love Frank, (I've decided we're on first names basis) so this cover is epic.

PS. I was there for this. His management put up a bunch of songs on his facebook page, what ever one got more votes was the one he played. He learnt this song on the car journey to the NME office and also had to bring the lyrics with him. That's why he's looking down at the floor as that's where his piece of paper was.

No, it's not as slick as the original. But I can't help thinking, given the subject matter, that being ragged and heartbroken works better for this song

All the people fighting about this video, and saying things like "rubbish" and "terrible" don't realize that he had learned the words and how to play the entire thing the day that he made this video. NME had his fans vote what song he should cover. This song won, so he had to learn the words and chords and decide he wanted to play it when he arrived in the morning. This video was made later that same afternoon.

This is a reason why hes so good. Everyone is saying its of pitch, or hes playing it in the wrong key...If you look at the title it says "cover", its his own version and i like it and so does a lot of other people.

This is actually crazy good. A lot of people are saying they're disappointed but hey, HE LEARNED EVERYTHING IN ONE DAY, and put his own spin on it. NME had a poll for what song he should do. When he showed up in the morning, they told him that this song won, so he quick learned it and sang it that afternoon.

Frank learnt this song on the way there, it was a poll for what song he would do and the one with the highest amount of votes was the one that he did. That's why he's looking down because he's got the paper infront of him with the lyrics on. I have to say though, he did an amazing job regardless... kudos to you, Mr Turner!

Not his best, but it sounded pretty much unrehearsed, so. Well done nevertheless. Also, it takes lots of guts to get so emotional in front of people - and so few especially, it's actually easier with an anonymous, bigger crowd. Not everybody can do that.
@stupidvampiretwat11 жыл бұрын
He did do amazingly, even more impressive now I know how it went down. People saying about "he changed how it's supposed to feel" clearly can't comprehend how hard it'd be to just get a song and work it out in a fucking car journey!
@thesunnygirl96ify11 жыл бұрын
honestly i expected something a lot worse after reading your comment. i actually like this cover :)

He seems to get more and more comfortable as the video progresses, and it's incredible by the end. I bet half the dislikes didn't give the video more 20 seconds. I would like to think that Brandon Flowers would be honored to see this.

AWESOME cover... considering, and I think some people forget (or just didn't know) that he learnt the music and lyrics on the same day he recorded this video. Would love to hear a proper version of Mr Birghtside by frank done in a studio. That would kick ass!

@VIVALAJERK you can get the tab from Ultimate Guitar, the highest rated one for Mr Brightside is slimier to the way Frank plays it, just work out the finger picking bit at the start and its almost exactly the same, except he doesn't use a capo

He just had a sold-out Wembley show which I went to, trust me, he had got what it takes to cut it.
@MCRwriterwickedfreak12 жыл бұрын
Anyone talking shit about Frank- if you have nothing POSITIVE to say, don't say anything at all. No one's forcing you to watch it. This man just sold out Wembley Arena- doesn't that say something about his obvious talent? I understand that you have your own opinion and that this really isn't his best song ever, but he'd never played it properly before and it wasn't a song he chose to cover, so please give him so credit.
@KVGerudo12 жыл бұрын
Who the heck knows man, maybe he hasnt played it alot, maybe is voice is off that day. Maybe he had too many pints the night before and can't get in the rythym. Frank has proved himself already and it should be taken at face value, he did a fine job. Better than alot of the haters.
@thomasclifford181512 жыл бұрын
If i want an angry but sorrowful song from Frank then the only way to go is "worse things happen at sea".
