We need more cultural icons like Wilczek and Lex! The assumption shouldn't just be that smart people are born that way, every single guest Lex has had on has seemingly worked themselves to the bone in pursuit of something more. That message needs to be trumpeted from the rooftops of every school on this planet, genius is just the first step in the intellectual pursuit of anything.

I like the fact that there is nothing in the background to disturb - no music. I am able to concentrate on the various steps of meditation. Brilliant discussion! I like the spookiness of the complimentary principle. Explains a lot in my life, and space-time-plasma crystals just blow me away. Yet still, I feel we might be missing something...

58:12 I really like this explanation of how evolution may select for consciousness, or like he said, 'self-awareness'. I like that word better too. Consciousness sounds too mystical.

Not even a good old fashioned pocket protector for all those pens. That's heroic.

Lex, you are at the top of your game in this interview. Good prep! Wished I could have heard him discuss decoherence, recoherence, his take on quantum consciousness, the multiverse, and how everyone can exploit this knowledge in their daily lives to achieve deeper compassion and joy. He almost got there with the bits about humility. I also wish he hadn't held back when he waded into deeper waters. We like pictures of the bottom turtle. Why didn't you ask Katherine de Kleer about the meaning of life? Just needling. Peace & love.

Maybe the only genuine podcast for people who are serious about science...As a researcher myself, I hate when I see wrong infos flying in the name of popular science...love to see physicists themselves emerge in these deep discussions

Those pens in his shirt pocket, lol...he looks like a literal caricature of a nerd physics professor! And I say that as an MSc in physics

@@hypno5690 Is it tho? Squinting when sun hits your eyes is a healthy reflex, and I don't flex my jaw unless I get angry. Also, you don't see it here but I was actually wearing a pen necklace and I have pens tattooed on my butt cheeks. Swear to god!

Everyone says 6 pens but he in fact has at least 7: look at the leftmost ridge on the surface of his pocket at 6:15; it's not from the black pen :O Anyway, incredible conversation! What a passionate and brilliant mind this man has. To me, he represents some of the best of what mankind has to offer.
